Re: Chorus Aviation wins long-running rate dispute with AC

It remains to be seen if AC and Jazz can get past the acrimonious relationship they've had for the last few years. JR has suggested that there are proposals that will be put on the table to create a win-win situation for both sides. A little speculation is in order, perhaps some flexibility would be ...

Re: AC 15 Loading Question

I've got to ask because you've asked an odd question, why do you ask? With large jets things aren't always as simple as loading on aircraft to MTOW and going flying. The AC's 777-200LR's have a MTOW of 344,730 Kg, but a Max landing weight of 223,167 Kg, off the top of my head the burn from YYZ-HKG ...

Re: Porter and the CSeries

wow. Everything is possible. It will be interesting to see the political maneuvering surrounding the island airport thing, if that's the way they want to go that is. But under the terms of Tripartite Agreement, the only jet aircraft traffic allowed at the Island airport is for MEDEVAC flights. Pame...

Porter and the CSeries

I don't know what to make of this news story other than to say it's a very risky move on the part of Porter.

I generally prefer Firefox 20 and avoid Internet Explorer 10. Both browsers will not open the Go AC tab link. Downloaded Google Chrome and it opens the link.

Re: Upcoming Jazz station closures

It would seem the outcome of the Customer/Aircraft services group now lays in the hands of the arbitrator. Would this be an indicator of future labour/management negotiations as this may be precedent setting? http://caw2002tca.ca/NewsRoom/jazz-csaacs-mediationarbitration-moves-to-final-stage.aspx Lo...

The issue is currently before Tom Hodges for mediation/arbitration 27-29 March.

Jazz has a number of individual contracts at a number of stations for ground handling of UA Express flights. I have no idea how profitable they are.

Re: Encore Routes and YYC Based

As Encore grows and its airplanes arrive, it will weaken Porter's sticker price. I still see the end game here resulting in a merger. If WS does expand Encore into Eastern Canada as expected, then it's certainly going to have some effect on Porter as it will AC. Porter seem to have plateaued in thei...

Re: Encore Routes and YYC Based

Good god if any place needed relief from Air Canada pricing it was YCD. $150-$400 from YCD to YVR?! Nuts. That may be expensive, but remember the market determines prices. I don't imagine there are but a few seats ever sold at the top end in any given month. AC is not in the business of focusing on ...

Re: Upcoming Jazz station closures

This is a fundamental industry reconfiguration and the wheels are already in motion That about sums it up. One just has to look south of the border to get an idea how this is likely to unfold. At the end of the day,it's just business and workers must not take it personally. We,like the product bein...

Re: Encore Routes and YYC Based

Those look like good choices to start the operation. I was surprised to YYC - YCD ! Never realized that WS would be configuring the DH4 with 78 seats, that's one more row than the Jazz configuration.

Re: Upcoming Jazz station closures

It's interesting to note,Jazz the CPA contractor ,is trying to sub out it's work in respect to tow crews and groomers in the hubs. The small base closures are noteworthy as it likely means AC has decided to exit those small markets or give the flying to someone else who will do their own ground-hand...

Re: Upcoming Jazz station closures

This is yet another example of how Jazz will cut as much as they can by way of operating costs to ensure that they can continue to pay out that huge dividend. The irony is that some employees partake in the ESOP and may themselves ultimately be victims of cost savings in order to maintain the divid...

Re: Upcoming Jazz station closures

Not a good sign for Jazz pilots, especially new hires. New hires with continue to turn over for greener pastures and those that stay will be stuck in the right seat hoping for movement from those that retire. I suppose the laid off workers can re-apply to the new company if they don't mind 12-13 do...

Re: Upcoming Jazz station closures

If I understand correctly (from the article) this means Jazz will be closing 8 bases, and laying off 300 people. Will this affect the pilot group? Or just the Customer Service (CSA) and Aircraft Service (ACS) group? It's a trickle down effect I would imagine. My guess is that the YVR to YZP YPR YYD...

As much as this announcement effects primarily ground agents,it certainly gives one an indication of where things are going.

Re: Changes to Pass Travel

Can someone explain to me in a nutshell what these passes mean and what is the difference say from a C4 to a C1 or C2. I might be in a position to recieve C4 passes, so just curious where these passes would put me in the lineup when trying to get on an AC flight. Air Canada employees travel as C2 a...
