Re: My early Flight Instructor training

Well.... lots of great thoughtful responses.... I will be working my way into flight instructor slowly.... I am not going to be an instructor tomorrow. A big thing will for sure be developing weather sense and I don't have enough time in the air to be proficient yet in that either.... but it will c...

Sorry to hear john. Are the medicals standard across all Chinese airlines? There are other airlines you could apply to.

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft

YVR Lurker, I may be out of you and your ALPA fanboi’s hair. I won’t know until a few days from now if I pass the medical, but if I do, I’ll do everything I can to get hired. I don’t think what the new contract holds even matters. The take home pay here is astronomical for a 737 pilot. I met 6 expa...

Swallow, cut the shit. You have "deep knowledge" lmao, you have someones opinion, as do I, as does anyone. Fact is the company can ask to pay us in sacks of potatoes and recycled pop cans, but ultimately it's out of everyones hands. Given the nonsense that I figure has transpired we're going to get ...

Re: No more WJ non-stop YEG-LAS

Why would anyone want to give up the ESPP for a DC pension. With the ESPP you can sell the shares, move them to a TFSA or spousal RRSP and self manage your retirement in a tax efficient manner. With a DC pension you get to buy overpriced Manulife mutual funds and have no control over your investmen...

Hey Tbaylx, Enough with the cavalier attitude. Every time we here that disgusting call sign on the radio we all die inside. My "jumpseat" will never be open to the "26". Re: Airbus to rename the C Series...disgusting.

If I were running Boeing I'd reopen the 757 line with new high BP engines, and updated avionics. Stop stretching the Max past an 800 and CX the max 900/1000. I'd really love to see a revamped 757. That's just me, but I guess that what the 797 will be.

Tbaylx, sounds awesome doesn't it? The espp, the freedom to do what you will. It's a double edge sword. Been doing it for 11+ years and it's hardly worth the stress. If you can afford it great, but if you're going into debt to afford to live then I strongly suggest you dial it back to a livable amou...

Winds, turb, windshear is a very fluid thing - no 2 approaches will be the same. If it's just gusting 52 kts yes while bumpy (and fun) it's more then doable. If theres hail or windshear you're avoiding or going around. As for severe turb, unless your out of control it's not severe. Just uncomfortable.

Gents, at the risk of sounding...disloyal(?) I think for everyones mental health it's time to let the anger pass. Yes imho the dirty 30 did a pretty selfish act, stepping into our labour dispute for a direct left seat. We all know its dirty pool. That said it does nothing positive to carry it around...

Re: How did it work out?

And I guess it bears repeating that last year I made $389,000 by piloting an airplane in Canada. This year I’m trying to be god’s gift to BASE jumping and have 95 jumps in the last 8 weeks. All of the above because of what some would have you believe was a shitty agreement negotiated by the WJPA. A...

While I enjoy reading in flight, I also appreciate a good conversation. Helps to pass the the time and keep you awake and alert. Personally I'd rather fly with someone who prefers to talk. Can't stand flying with untra quite types.

Re: Two become one? Planemakers work on tech to cut pilot numbers

I see a hybrid system being feasible where there is 1 pilot and a drone like operator overseeing many flights. At some point every pilot needs to use the washroom, someone (remote drone pilot?) There to oversee such times. Problem is someone will hack that network, use the plane as a WMD just once, ...

Debating about the flight attendant profession is pointless. While the job itself isn't over taxing, it can be, like ours. Now there is nothing wrong with doing it as a career, with A good solid wage. Now comparing them to nurses is also pointless. Watching my wife go through her nursing program I c...
