Re: Air Canada 787 lands at Trenton Sept 18

There were a lot of diversions due the weather. Some went to London, others in to Hamilton, others had enough fuel to wait it out in the hold. One 787 did divert into Trenton.

Re: NavCanada and CRA

Yes you can. You have to request for the T2202A, but they will give you one and you can then file it with your taxes as a deductible.

Re: ITA Study Material Vs. Exam

Like other posters have said, study over and over the ITA material until you know it inside out. You'll then find the ITA exam not difficult at all. You never get a second chance to make a first impression, and so want to get a pass mark in the mid to high 90s%. You absolutely don't want to be known...

Re: Tips for the VFR/IFR ITA Exam

I had 4 weeks from receiving the ITA to starting. My instructors gave a very good review of the material and prepared us for the ITA exam. There is a huge amount of material to learn, but it is doable in a short(ish) time frame. But be prepared to sacrifice your life to study for those weeks leading...

Re: For IFR and VFR students, do both complete same ITA cour

It's been mentioned on other threads, but worth reiterating here too. Put in every bit of effort you can to do as well as you can in the ITA exam. Even though the pass mark is 80%, you don't want to be aiming for 80%. You want something in the high 90's. You never get a second chance to make a first...

Re: Paper strips vs electronic strips

YYZ Terminal (Arrivals and Departures) use electronic strips, but the rest of sectors in the control centre use paper strips.

Re: Question About Training Offer

You will also get a review of the ITA material over the first few days before you sit the exam. You should get a good idea from that the finer detail you need to know. But, as mentioned above, you will need to study every chapter and had a strong knowledge of the fundamental material in each.

I had about a month's notice. If you get through to the telephone interview stage they will coordinate a time mutually convenient for you and the interviewer.

Re: Question About Training Offer

Focus on all of the ITA. You will be questioned from all sections. You don't work stat. holidays whilst on the introductory training course. You should get your schedule the first week of training, but may get it a week or so earlier. However, the schedule is flexible and subject to change during th...

Re: Question About Training Offer

I posted this awhile ago but it bears repeating; "You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Fail the ITA exam and everyone in the ACC knows you failed. Not a good way to start. You really should know all of that material cold before you get to your course. The overwhelming majority ...

Re: Claiming EI While on Training

If you live in Ontario you can claim OSAP whilst on the initial unpaid section of training.
I don't know how much you'd get, but I imagine it's worth filling out the forms to get a low cost loan that you don't have to pay back until you're earning a decent salary.

Re: YYZ 2nd Interview

I heard there's a VFR course starting soon, and IFR in September, with the possibility of another one inbetween. But that was speculation with regards to the third course depending on if they could fit any more trainees into the schedule.

Re: NavCanada testing

Boomer_12 Reading through numerous bits of advice on here I noticed your tips, one of which being to review geography. Is there a need in the tests to know Canadian airport codes/locations? Or cities other than the major ones? I've just been invited for the testing session in October, and trying to...
