Re: Question about the Garmin G1000...

Yes the G1000 supports upto 999 custom way points. When flying VFR I use to plug in the way points as some of them in YVR you need a GPS to get to. Alas I can not off the top of my head remeber how to do it. It has been 9 months.

Just saw on Global News that the North Shore search and rescue have found debris and the smell of Jet A. Does not look good at all.

A current CFS will indicate what sort of fuel is available in the services section. Have a great flight.

Re: Paying for Air Ambulance?

On BC for a BC resident you would pay the ambulance user fee of $55 unless it is a hospital to hospital transfer and I think it is free. That is for BC Ambulance provided service. If your out hiking and say North Shore Search and Rescue has to rescue you I think if you where being negligent for exam...

Re: Maintenance

Have you had a friend with significantly better english proof read your cover letter and resume? If not do that first. A poorly written cover letter does not get passed the inbox and goes right into the trash. Spend time researching each company you apply to and be sure this comes through in the cov...

Re: Instructor Fell Asleep

There is no way your instructor should be falling asleep. I would tell his CFI, demand my money back for the flight, at very least the instructor portion of it as he was not instructing. You are paying him good money to instruct, not sleep. Give him a second chance and if he does it again, never fly...

Re: Cargo operators in YVR

Orca has a whole pile of Navajos, Skylink Express has 208s as well as 1900s, and Carson Air has Metros. They are all specific Cargo machines. NT Air has 208s. Some of the companies may not list it but if you call um up looking for a charter they would all be happy to provide if they have an airplane...

Well since then they have added the power off 180 to the CPL. It was not there when I did mine back in 04' and was added some time after that. So there is one exercise right there.

Re: IFR question

dave_091, yes, up north it is very common. You are going from one airport to another in solid IMC and no where near having comms, radar or anything with any ATC unit. Sqwak 1000, COMMUNICATE well. 126.7 and ATF, and just fly your IFR procedures.

The older I get the more I want the time off. 10 or 15 years ago I would have taken 17 days a month. Heck right now 17 days is not that bad. Still 13 or 14 off a month. Ask the Encore guys working 22!

Re: PPC training scenario?

waveride, to provide training you would need to meet the qualifications as spelled out in your companies COM. Check the training section and it will be clear. Something like Captain with a 100hrs on type or what ever the specification is. That is it, all other items are moot. The COM should be at mi...

Love my cut above shirts. Will order from them again. I did have one with a funky collar and a small mark on it, sent back no problem. As for colour? Find mine nice and white. Though if your company where to require you to take the course at your own expense and issue you a T2202 I think you could write it off as a work expense the same way you would write off say a new head set or a medical.

I really like http://www.acutaboveuniforms.com They have three cuts and some nice features including a sweat absorbing band at the neck to prevent ring around the collar, velcro pockets (not cheesy like you think) and a reenforced strip with eyelets for your wings. You can however take credit for the NDB or DME in some cases. COM 3.15.9 in the AIM. I don't have a YHM apprpach plate handy so I can't say if you can take credit or not in this case.

Nope never do it. As a training captain, all engine failures are above 1500' AGL in the aircraft. We don't want to die.
