Re: Pretty sobering opinion

Why does everyone in Aviation always take a moment to shit on younger people? Go to Costco it's not people in their 20's panic buying things. It's not a particularly "aviation" thing, though. It's been going on forever. Older generations are always complaining about their children's generations (or...

Re: 30 Day suspension-- all Travel Europe to US.

The WHO has stated that travel restrictions are largely ineffectual, and they tend to cause economic chaos rather than stem the flow of a contagious disease. Economic chaos, in the midst of a pandemic, should be avoided as it makes it harder to adequately respond to the pandemic in the first place.

Re: Corona Virus

It’s so interesting how people who complain about the government interfering with their lives are always the first ones wondering why they aren’t doing more. I find it ironic, how the same people who rail about how the Chinese response was barbaric (massive quarantines), and then rail on about how ...

Re: Got kicked out of my flight school today

Sounds like a school that deals with integrated students; they're usually looking for any excuse to "unburden" themselves of pesky local students... In all honesty though, you did everything right - you admitted your mistake, you were going to sit down with the CFI and go from there. The school "fir...

The Trump announcement (cancel all flights to/from Europe - except the UK) is going to kick the shit out of the industry.

Well, that's going to kick the shit out of the industry. And, do little to nothing to actually stop the spread - being that it's already all over the world.

So go long on health care providers. Got it.
Probably a better bet would be medical supply companies, testing outfits, medical research, etc.

 How long do you think it takes for that $28 oil to get to the pumps? Hint... We haven't invented transporter technology nor instant refinement. I'm well aware it takes time to get the cheap gas to market, but it should get to market... eventually. Oil has been dropping for a number of weeks ...

Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

The number of Corona Virus infections and deaths is still increasing - it will exceed the Flu statistics in a few months at the most. Our so called "Leaders" are doing nothing to stop the spread and are totally unprepared. There's no possible way of stopping the spread of a highly contagious diseas...

Re: Recession incoming

A reversal of some sort has been in the cards for a while now, historically the market tends to "correct" every five to seven years or so. These corrections can be slow to bottom out, though. The current period of "growth" is unprecedented because it's been going on for a decade. Mind you, all signs...

Re: Another casualty FlyBe stopped ops

All the headlines are stating that Flybe is a victim of the coronavirus, which is utter nonsense. Flybe has been in dire financial straights for some time, and was on the verge of collapse around the time Thomas Cook went under. Flybe has gone under, because an emergency bridge loan application to t...

Re: It might be best to get a top up enroute

Seems this is a human factors related accident more than anything; although poor flying skills on the buggered up approaches certainly didn't help. Time in the tanks gives you options, if things do not go as planned. But, if you can't think straight or process information being provided to you, the ...

Re: Corona Virus

Rather than the “WHO proving itself totally useless” it seems to be taking a reasoned, rational approach to this. What would you have them do? Shut down global travel and commerce? That's exactly what needs to be done imho. This is how outbreaks were handled in the past - it has proven to be an eff...

Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

The majors can't freeze hiring when they're this far behind and retirements putting them even further behind. Says who? What happened when 9/11 hit - retirements slowed significantly while people hung on. Forecasts have airlines, globally, taking a $30 Billion dollar hit due to COVID-19. Doesn't ne...

Re: Coulson C-130 missing NSW

I'm surprised no one commented on the aforementioned AD, about the elevator boost assembly cracks - can cause a loss of hydraulic pressure, reduced controllability... I mean, it may be entirely possible that the aircraft ended up low on the drop run and ended up being a CFIT, but you'd have to think...

Seems odd that you'd be able to smash onto the water hard enough to drop an engine, but not hard enough to do any visible damage to the floats/attachments... Mind you, stranger things have happened.

There are videos online showing how to start up most aircraft, so assuming buddy there doesn't have "aviation experience" as listed in the article it could be possible to at the very least get the -985 fired up. Mind you, "aviation experience" seems laughable when you try and nick a float plane at o...

Apparently the "plan" was to ascend to 5,000 feet, to determine whether the Earth was flat or round - as those new age hippydippy types feel it is.

Honestly, with both (or all three, possibly) aircraft going to the same airport for maintenance; wouldn't it have just made more sense to leave them at YHC until a crane/barge was available? Why would you decide to tow a damaged aircraft all the way from the Harbour to YVR, does anyone think that's ...
