Re: Canadian rapper dies after falling off airplane wing in failed stunt in B.C.

I wonder how much of the mockery of this family’s tragedy has to do with their son’s music genre? Many of the Colonel’s more thoughtful posts had to do with various friends/acquaintances of his who were killed while doing aerobatics - and it would be easy to say “meh - high speed, unusual attitudes,...

Funny world - all of those crusty old Airline guys that I encountered while I was coming thrugh the trenches cautioned me to "never pay for my PPC!" Yet, to go to AC or WJ, it seems that you do just that

flowing to WestJet. This is about to become extremely difficult with such low experience coming into Encore, which I don’t believe anyone predicted as coming this soon 3-4 years ago. Well if they paid more, then perhaps more people might be pried loose from better-paying 703/4 jobs and raise the ex...

Re: Intentionally landing on public roads

But then you'd have to read the full MVA to read if it specifically prohibits aircraft operation. The definition given mentions bicycles and implements of husbandry - and while bikes might be scarce in rural Alberta, I don't think that tractors are, and you see them on the roads all of the time.. They and only they know that. Anything you hear is just conjecture. I’ve been hearing since the day I got hired in 2015 that mainline would be picking up the hiring any day now.... still here and feeling farther from mainline than ever.

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

So who, exactly , in the private sector has experience doing heavy mx on CL2/415? Some of the government AMEs have 30 years working on that type - it’s literally all they’ve done for their career. Do you really want to hive off all of that work to some mythical, unnamed AMO that will somehow be chea...

Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

I can’t see the sense in it..planes cost the same for fuel and mx; pilots get paid on par with the private sector; the only difference is that you now have to tack on an extra 5, 7, 10% for profit...

You work at an airline that started up with scab type pilots, lowering the bar for all... No problems hiring more scab types at Encore, those seats are filled. Now you are upset about Swoop? Ha ha. Not many pilots out there in Canada that didn't scab themselves out at some point in their career... ...

Re: SWOOP startup/WJ Tail loss

Between new duty regs coming requiring an increase in pilots, plus staffing the 787s by year end, WJ likely has enough pilots right now to meet all demand, especially as tails migrate to Swoop. The chance of any hiring in the new future at WJ is pretty unlikely in my mind. ...Well, until AC starts ...

I understand the emotions that some feel for the Swoop airline, but it sounds like there is no shortage of applicants (qualified) and all indications are that it will be starting on time. Can we have a separate forum to discuss Swoop issues, seeing as it only has a peripheral connection to WJ? Than...
