Re: Pilots Support Retirement

fish4life wrote:what happens when they turn 65? will they say then its illegal again to force them to retire?
They wouldn't be forced to retire at 65, merely transferred to the right seat or back seat where they would remain until the either died or medicaled out.

Re: Hiring Rumors...

Is the AC reserve system as bad as it sounds? I only know the ins and outs of the Jazz reserve system, but only getting 4 GDO's and being 24 hour oncall sounds pretty harsh. The 4 GDOs are more like 6 - there is one 48GDO period and 48hr GDO period followed by a 48 Optional period. You can move tha...

Operationally, so in relation to load factor, AC didn't lose money.

Raymond, I can't wait until the next election so I can come to all your town hall meetings in Winnipeg, step up to the mike, and tell the audience that in my opinion you are man of NO integrity, interested only in pursuing your own financial gain and feeding your oversized ego. //edited by Sulako ta...

Re: Jumpseat with Porter

It's odd that they cancel the whole deal because of the f/a's. I've seen the jumpseat list that PD has. There are two boxes, one for flight crew, the other for F/As. Most of the F/A boxes say NO (i.e. other airlines declined the F/A, but accept Flight Crew). Why didn't AC do the same? Makes me thin...

Re: Jumpseat with Porter

why did AC sign the agreement if they didn't like the conditions in the first place? so AC is fine with paying WJ but not fine with PD allowing FA's to get in line? The signing of the agreement despite the FA rules was an oversight. Unfortunately the MLO who signed it off noticed the FA inclusion a...

Re: Jumpseat with Porter

mattedfred, I spoke with a flight ops manager at AC shortly after the agreement was signed, who said that unless the policy was changed to pilots only the agreement wasn't going to last long. Infact it wasn't noticed until AFTER it was signed that Porter was including FAs. There are many other airli...

Re: Jumpseat with Porter

As an Air Canada pilot I am glad it is gone, for one reason only. We will only carry a Porter pilot, NOT a porter FA. Getting bumped off a Porter flight by a Flight Attendant under a recip JS program is BS. When Porter restricts it to pilots only, then I could possibly encourage a return to an agree...

So this bill would stop and EMPLOYER from setting mandatory retirement, but would it prevent a union from negotiating a fixed retirement age? Think of it as a benefit.....

Re: Interesting findings on Perimeter gear-up March/09

You morons who think Perimeter has poor maintenance have obviously never spent any time in the hangar. I was at PAG for 5 and a half years, and never once had any mechanical failures attributed to poor maintenance. Any time I had an issue, it was addressed and fixed. Not sure where this hatred of Pe...
