Re: Swoop pilot hiring.
If people don't want to work at Swoop, don't go to work at Swoop. This is basic economics and the right of citizens of a free society. WJ came along 21 years ago and brought sustainable competition to the airline market in Canada which provided consumers with choice, and in many, many cases brought ...

Re: No guaranteed flow through?
Rudder, how could WJ use Swoop to fly all WJ planes? WJ is transforming itself into a higher level service provider to its business customers. Swoop is an ULCC where passengers will be charged for everything. How can one be the other?

Re: Swoop pilot hiring.
Well, if you decide to strike, it would be illegal and your union would be fined. You should know that prior to certification, a deal was almost completed that would have staffed SWOOP airplanes with WJ pilots, albeit at the reduced rate, and in exchange for every SWOOP tail one widebody would be br...

Re: Hiring off the street any time soon?
Hey NCP. I guess you won't have to worry about paying all that tax on that huge gross income you're making, due to a lot of OT. Just take a look at Jetstar and what happened to Qantas. All that juicy OT will be long gone. That Swoop skipper will soon be doing it for you. That way you'll have more t...

Re: Hiring off the street any time soon?
.Just a stubborn, ignorant executive group.
Why would you say that? Since when do pilots run companies or decide business strategy. Come to think of it, what do you know about running airlines?

I think there is truth in what the interviewer said. With two ALPA CBA's to negotiate, everything is on the table.

Re: 10 year take home pay
I'm a guy who likes facts. Maybe there's others out there who like facts, and not just propaganda. One of the facts that I really like is the fact that my taxable gross income for the 14 day period that ended 5 January 2018 was $25,153.34. As a line pilot. For 14 days of work. Of course this was mon...

ALPA Now Provides Safe Places
Now, I think some/many/none/most on this board realize that I wasn't a fan of ALPA intruding into the relationship between myself and my employer. Que sera, sera . That said, I don't think it unfair to be critical of ALPA for allowing the forces social justice to intrude upon their ranks. I understa...

Re: Airline Gender Pay Gap: BBC Report
Last night, I waded through a report by the American Association of University Women (AAUW): https://www.aauw.org/research/the-simple-truth-about-the-gender-pay-gap/ They still maintain that despite influences by job choices by women that there are still nefarious forces at work that lead women to m...

Re: CBC: Pilot shortage
I met an F-16 pilot from the USAF last year and he told me they are having problems recruiting pilots. Unbelievable. I'd having given my left nut to be an Air Force pilot. Apparently the job isn't attractive like it once was. I'm not sure what can change that. I love my job now, but it was a challen...

Re: 10 year take home pay
I don't know what my average take home pay is as I rarely work my posted schedule, but as a 15 year employee and 13 year captain on the NG Flica says I worked (FACT) 739 hours and fifty nine minutes of hard time in 2017, and though I have a hard time deciphering my pay stub, it does state that I had...

Re: Airline Gender Pay Gap: BBC Report
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-41805053 Apparently, at least in the UK, it will take 100 years to eliminate the gender based pay gap . If we refer to exhibit A, the EasyJet 52% pay disparity cited above, EasyJet has 100 years to either: (a) pay their FA's the same as pilots, (b) incentivize wome...

Umm, why not start hiring women? That might solve the pilot shortage problem and close the gender based pay gap. I call that a twofer!

JBI, do you have a background in the STEM fields? I don't want to button hole you, but I'm trying to get a feel for where your biases (we all have them) may be.
And to correct you, I never mentioned anything about gender roles, only gender based pay gap illusions.

Re: Airline Gender Pay Gap: BBC Report
Correlation does not imply causation, and equality of opportunity does not imply equality of outcome. The feminist dogmatic narrative, firmly entrenched in the neo-Marxist, post-Modern illiberal leftwing that has taken control of western universities, is victorious. Trump touched a nerve in the USA ...

Airline Gender Pay Gap: BBC Report
It is likely the same at airlines the world over, but here is the stat that the BBC is reporting: "Women's hourly pay rates are 52% lower than men's at Easyjet." http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-42580194 This is a stain on all men in the airline industry. I hang my head in shame that we have all participa...

Re: ALPA Forum down?
Might I be so bold as to ask why bother with the ALPA forum. I understand that your reps don't answer questions posed to them, unlike the WJPA reps, who, for the most part, went above and beyond to respond. Further, this policy of non-response on forum postings appears to be a directive from Herndon...
