Re: Do people go from Jazz to Sky.

At every base the most junior captain is Classic Dash. The wait is around 1.5-2 yrs. So I don't know where the 4 yrs is coming from (you are not locked on an aircraft for an upgrade), nor if you're concerned about time on type why you would switch from the classic when again it goes junior for upgra...

One would think they would just email out a survey as a cost effective means?

Re: Westjet. The new PML to Air Canada!

I mentioned previously that the best place to go to get to AC is Encore. Regardless of WS going ALPA, there'll still be a guaranteed flow, and now a good shot at AC, almost as good as the "up to 80%" from express. Forget AC express carriers, go Encore. :?

Re: Jazz Hatters

I think most FOs feel they aren't being paid professionally, and that would be correct. Does that mean you're not going to fly with any FO? Does that mean they don't take flying the plane professionally? Especially over a hat? Have you seen anyone fly unprofessionally? Or refuse to put the gear down...

I see this as a good benefit for the industry. One step closer to industry wide seniority and acknowledgement of years of experience for compensation. Kinda like how real professions are run.

Re: Jazz Aug 31 Equipment BID

Another suggestion for the focus group, if Jazz were to implement a port type base system like WJ used to have, that might spur some pilots into joining, just wanted to throw that out there. That is a great idea that would entice many. Porters new YQT base will likely prove a smart move on their pa...

It's just a f'ing hat ffs. One would think and hope there are bigger issues in our profession that squabbling over a forsaken hat. Talk about princesses. If someone doesn't wear it, am I disrespected? Absolutely Not! What matters is the ability to fly a damn airplane, after all we are pilots, not da...

Re: PML between Express Carriers

Encore would seem to be the preferred regional for career progression. Guaranteed to go to Westjet The ALPA unionization at WJ and the birth of the ULCC at WJ throws a wrench into this guarantee, no? WJ will need a source of pilots. It makes sense to keep the current guaranteed flow, it would be a ...

Re: PML between Express Carriers

Encore would seem to be the preferred regional for career progression. Guaranteed to go to Westjet or a chance at AC as OTS or other carriers like Sunwing, Transat.. Those at the Express, just have a chance and a random one at that, to go to AC or OTS at the others. Working conditions at all regiona...

Kej, you did everything you're suppose to, don't feel bad about yourself. Spotting traffic isn't always easy, sometimes I wonder how the dog fighters of WW1 and 2 did it, when I can't see something on TCAS 5 miles away sometimes. The fact is Kej, there is and always will be Aholes in this industry. ...

+1 Complex and atphat. Sometimes circumstances forces us to take the only road available to us to support ourselves and family. That happened to me few yrs ago. Took a 65% paycut after being laid off, due to another company willing to do work cheaper and paid less. Yes I was bitter at the time. Went...

One of the comments in that article. I was on this flight... the woman and her kid were not only disturbing business class, but everyone else on the flight. As mentioned elsewhere on here, they can't be too desperate when they are still pfo'ing experienced pilots, I know 3 personally that are great pilots but were pfo'd, one just recently.

Re: Boeing studies pilotless airplane

I see it as a step phase over many years. Like I mentioned, 1 pilot, long range would be augmented. Then drone piloted. Then fully automated. Something like over 30 yrs. By then automation will be in much more faucets of life and likely more acceptable to be transported by it. Weather can be uploade...
