A little article from The Province: http://www.canada.com/theprovince/columnists/story.html?id=1c6ea3ff-4b6d-4e92-9cf1-0ab8cab65a45 Hard to make sense of this convoluted story Only three people know full story, and one of them is dead Michael Smyth, The Province Published: Tuesday, March 04, 2008 If...

Re: Airbus trumps Boeing in massive USAF contest

Little bit shocked that Northrop/EADS got the contract as I felt that the contest was for Boeing to loose. But when the evaluation was released, I'm not surprised; the Northrop bid was superior in 4 out of the 5 evaluation categories, and tied Boeing for the 5. Going to be pretty damned hard to over...

Re: Canada, U.S. agree to share troops in civil emergencies

This whole thing stinks. I suspect the war is being organized and planned to go into 2011, and this new agreement shows that. Many people don't believe this war either because Afghanistan is small country with little, small villages and we can't stop the Taliban? It sounds unbelievable to me. They ...

Re: Canada, U.S. agree to share troops in civil emergencies

This agreement is many years old. It is merely a renewal of the agreement that allows either side to ask for additional help if needed. Both the US and Canada have requested and been granted additional help from each other.

Re: Kosovo Redux

How many wars do you think the US can maintain at a time? They would have to pull guys out of Japan... and that's not gonna happen now :D The US is more concerned about the next president than what's going on in the world... and for some stupid reason if the US doesn't say anything.. everyone else ...

Re: Kosovo Redux

The Russians are blustering. All talk, no action. I don't think the Russians are willing to start World War III over this, and we have seen this sort of talk before during the Cold War.

And they said the Cold War was over... well it ain't, it just froze for a decade.

Re: B2-Stealth bomber Crashes.

I expect there will be calls from Congress and the USAF to reopen the B-2 production line. The USAF bomber fleet is ageing, and the recent heavy use of the bomber force has meant that they are short on airframes.

Re: Canadian loses battle for 'Jerusalem, Israel' passport

Besides as I understand the CDN government looked the other way until they were caught, it was a small price to pay on Canadas part for information sharing. What information were we sharing? How to sneak in to other countries illegally to assassinate people? More of the information that is being sh...

Re: Canadian Military boosts chopper firepower

What Colin Kenny intends is for a bunch of Griffons operating as top cover for convoy's traveling across Afghanistan, and maybe the occasional casevac operation. For the most part, we are interested in arming the Griffons with guns and rocket pods, and maybe a sensor to do this job. He is drawing up...

Re: Canadian Military boosts chopper firepower

Let's see if I understand everything that I just read: 1) The CAF and the government might be considering sending a 51 year old aircraft design and a 30 year old model of that design into a high and hot wartime combat theatre. 2) They are going to outfit these Griffons with Gatling guns that fire 3...

Re: New tactical helicopter for Canada

Hey, I read some mention on this forum about the subs that Canada purchased from our cousins over in the 'old country. Well thank God for the disappearing Polar Ice Cap because they could only operate in 40% of Canada's maritime waters year 'round. Canada should consider purchased F-22's for exampl...

Re: New tactical helicopter for Canada

You do know how expensive the NH-90's are? And why are you introducing a third (soon to be 4th) type into the CF? It would make a whole lot more sense if you recommended the EH-101 or the Sikorsky H-92... Also, the Griffon is not getting a mid-life... we've been parking airframes recently to make r...

Re: defence procurement in Canada impossible?

1. CRJ cannot carry the same equipment load nor the same weapons load as the current Aurora's and the future P-8. We are technically running out of floor space in the Aurora's. We can't take a reduction in floor space. Furthermore, the Aurora can carry a good amount of equipment and weapons; where ...

Re: defence procurement in Canada impossible?

Why is it that in Canada the Government can not purchase new equipment without it becoming a huge issue that end up with late delivery dates of new equipment overprice and outdated before it is even used.? First some of the Aircraft that DND needs cannot be supplied buy Canadian companies. Case in ...
