I thought with the current pilot contract, Airbus A330-200's can be added to the fleet easily, and without having to go back to the pilot union to negotiate a pay scale, as all you are adding is the same aircraft (but shortened) as the A330-300's. I thought this was the same case when Air Canada ord...

Update on the Skyservice 767: It appears the jet will be repaired after all. Boeing is erecting a temporary hangar, and is removing the fin of the plane. Some Air Canada mechanics already moved the jet to the new pad for repair. The rumours are that Boeing will either patch the plane enough so it ca...

Best thing Westjet can do is to bully Canjet out of buisness. When Canjet goes under, cherry pick some of the assets from Canjet and they will have a beefed up presence in the East.

Canjet's and Westjet's fleets are incompatible. Canjet flies the the 737 Classics, while Westjet flies the 737NG. There is some commonality, pilot-wise, but the 737 Classics and 737NG's share very little parts together, save perhaps the engine and the fuselage frames. Only thing Westjet can benefit ...

So, from what I am getting, the airplanes are still on the books, to be delievered? If Air Canada is planning to update their fleet, and they can't get the pilot union to agree, why don't they order A330-200's or A350-800's, as they are within the same size of the Boeing 767's that are aging? Or is ...

Air Canada's orders...

I noticed that Air Canada has 3 Airbus A340-600's on order since 2004. Are hey still being delivered to Air Canada? A search on Planespotter's database reveals that all 3 are on order, with cn's 592 (registration C-GKOO), 596 (registration C-GKOU), and 599 (registration unknown). I heard something e...

Westjet to move to T1 in YYZ in May 2006?

This is the rumour and speculation that I am hearing so far. From what I can see, T1 at YYZ is excessively large, and even Air Canada will not be able to fill all the slots there. I've read that T1 when fully complete should be able to handle something like 40-45 million passengers per year, whereas...

From what I am hearing from my sources, Westjet is unable to fit PTV's to the 800's due to the fact that they are heavily utilizing them and squeezing every seat out of them. Once the busy summer season is over, then they will take them out of commission to install the PTV's. The issue is with the 6...

Heard off the grapevine (I know a couple of pilots). Acutal conversation between CDG ATC and a airliner: The flight officer landed at CDG, and when he changed to the ground frequency to pick up the taxi instructions, the answer came back in French. after several calls in English, asking for an answe...

How about installing AC outlets in the planes for us notebook users? Or do I have to switch to Air Canada on their A321's to get a remote chance of a AC outlet?

Westjet F/A's

Just a quick question about Westjet's F/A's. Since I see that all F/A's are based in Calgary, do all the F/A's live in Calgary, or do some of them live in other cities? If some of them do live in other cities, how does their commute work? I am interested in applying for a job at Westjet, either as a...
