Vacuum pump
Hello there I will need a new dry vacuum pump for our 65 Cessna 180H (engine O-470R) at the next annual in May. I can't seem to find the part number in the logbooks for it and it is just too cold out to dig around in the engine compartment to find it... Would someone know exactly what I need to orde...

Re: External loads on private float plane.
Thanks
How many would you carry per trip? How does it affect flight characteristics? I am assuming you are flying a c 180?
Will need more lumber for the cabin next summer...really curious if I can get to do this!

Re: External loads on private float plane.
Any of you flown with plywood sheets on the spreader bars of a Cesna 180 on floats?
I have been told it can be done...but I am too chicken to do so!

Landing a float plane in the rain
Hello again folks Had to land in light/moderate rain the other day returning from our cabin to YZF. I rarely do this as I always avoid to fly in rainy conditions. I do not have a lot of experience and in this case, I chose to use the glassy water landing methods with power on as I could not see a wh...

Re: Ash on the plane
Thanks folks
Had to wash the plane twice to get rid of most of the ash...indeed nasty stuff...
Just wanted to make sure it was ok to use any regular car wash to avoid to make things worse...

"Frankly, W100 oil with 8% Camguard is
better than 2F, but don't take my word
for it"
Do you pour this Camguard stuff straight into the oil tank mixed with a fresh regular oil change for the winter? We usually park our fCessna 180 float plane for the winter...

Re: Engine not shutting down when fuel mixture pull off
[iIflyforpie, Interesting point. The float plane I fly I shut off with the mags. When I go to start it it fires up immediately with no prime- easier on the starter IMO. I used to have to hand prop that plane quite a bit so it made that really easy. Does shutting off the float plane with the mags cr...

Engine not shutting down when fuel mixture pull off
Hello folks Took our Cessna 180 for a flight yesterday to the cabin and after landing and taxing to the dock the engine did not shut down when I pulled the fuel mixture knob as usual. As I was getting a little too close to the dock, I had to turn the ignition key off... Same thing occurred on the re...

Thanks folks
One more question about vg's...beside improving slow flight characteristics, it apparently improves cross wing landing based on what Micro aerodynamics claims...how so?

Re: VG's on a Cessna 180?
Someone said somewhere that slower speed improvements with the VG's get the stall warning buzzer going a lot longer...is this true and is there a way to address that?

Yes, the display disappear when the photo cell is covered up!
How big (or expensive) of a job is it to get the display replaced?

can't see the radio freq. numbers when cold...
Morning
Frequency numbers are hard to see in the morning when it is cool (perhaps also because of dim light) outside. I can only read a few on the stand-by side. Does the radio (Narco)requires its own internal battery? External light censor not working properly?
Cheers
