Air Canada Interview

Figured this would be the best place to ask the question, "What is the interview like and what questions do they ask you?"

Thanks for the help.

Re: Hi!.. newbie here.

I wouldn't use your real name. Unless that's just a bland alias.

Re: Should an IFR rating be a Mandatory part of the CPL?

And if you're flying on wheels you should have to do a float rating in case you have to ditch in the water somewhere. Although I know what you're saying anyone flying IMC VFR is breaking the law and on top of that should know their own limitations.

Contract jobs

Was wondering how I could go about finding a contract job somewhere warm for a couple of months. I have 2000 hours and an A license and am sick of the North. Cheers.

Re: Meadow Lake, LaRonge, & Buffalo Narrows?

Thank you, I moved to La Ronge from Vancouver and that was a big shock. But it's a different culture and it's all about the people anyway so be open minded. I've lived everywhere in Saskatchewan now 3 years later and still like the people better than Vancouver, of course the landscape was a little b...

45 minutes to La Loche!!! Why didn't you say so. That may be the worst place i've ever been in my life.

Re: Meadow Lake, LaRonge, & Buffalo Narrows?

I told one of my buddies from Vancouver that I was living in Saskatchewan. There was an awkward pause until he asked if that was in northern BC. A lot less ignorance here and the bitches are far from bitches, they may even know how to drive a combine!

Still better than sitting in a cubicle from 9 to 5. Sit in a dirty airplane with dirty passengers from 8am to 10pm.

Your Nav Lights should be on all the time so when people see them on they know you're starting up. Taxi lights on for taxi unless you don't want to blind someone at night. Strobes on when you're on the active runway. Landing lights on when you're cleared for take-off. Cheers

Not only has the new Chief Pilot done his northern time, but he's a loyal TWA employee and a hard worker. He's not just working at the company to get some experience and then f'ing off. Give him a chance guys, i don't think the only point of avcanada is to get angry and cause conflict.

If you're flying VFR then you should stay VMC. Any flight into ice would be flight into cloud. Turn around if you inadvertently fly into cloud.

Out of Control said: I was just curious on the life of a jump pilot.

I assume it would be a glamorous one. Getting picked up in a limo everyday, a big table of food for your breaks, your own assistant, but that's the usual for a commercial pilot.

although in the event that the pilot was unable to access the cockpit, the First Officer is trained to land the aircraft

I was unaware that the FO can land. Thank god for that. It's almost like he's a pilot as well.

Do you think the ticket is cheaper if it's on the FO's leg to fly?

You're right, most professions have alot of stereotypes. We flew a judge and lawyers the other day and I asked one of the lawyers how often it's gets all intense and someone yells, "you want the truth, you can't handle the truth." I was in a bike shop once and I guy came in and told one of the emplo...
