Re: Good Riddance GGN

Let say one is talking about a dog’s bone. The ‘s indicates possession/ownership. If one replaces the word dog with “ it” , and one says “ it’s bone” , that is contrary to the rule that “it’s” is a contraction of the word “it” and “is” Also I purposely used “one” instead of “you” in the explanation ...

Re: AC pilot salaries now?

Unfortunately I think those salaries south of the border of which we have been so envious in the past couple of years may be in for a haircut. We might need to just try to hold on to what we have in Canada.

Re: Good Riddance GGN

Its a change in name only. It's. When used as a contraction, as in, when short for "it is", or "it was", an apostrophe is needed. What a bizarre language English is. An apostrophe can be used to indicate possession or contraction and there is no rhyme or reason as to when or when not use it. Just h...

Re: Best guess when recalls could happen

Listen man, all we do here at Jazz is fly what Air Canada management tells Jazz management to do. If ACPA has a problem with that then ACPA should bring that up with AC management.

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

Ok semantics. 795 surplus of which 600 max can be laid off(but probably will just stay on payroll and collect CEWS until CEWS ends or September, whichever is later) and the remaining 195 could be laid off starting in September?

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

Yes but as stated previously it is only a net loss of 40 airframes or 17% of your fleet. Still crappy for those affected. I guess we will find out soon what the Express fleet plan is

Re: 79 Airplanes Retired

A quick look at the AC website site shows a total of 30 767(25 at Rouge and 5 at mainline). So are you saying the total net loss of airframes is 30?

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

I find it insane that a force majeure clause of some type was not written into the contract. Is it not standard contract law?

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share

AC and JAZZ(and probably numerous other airlines have used the “act of god” ie force majeure clause to modify some of their agreements with their unions(like lay-off notice timelines etc) so why would this AC/Transat deal not have a similar clause that would enable either party to bail out in the ev...

Re: New collective agreement

Don’t know about wages but I heard it was a 10 year contract guaranteeing at least 25, 76 max seating aircraft for the term(that is the same as their current fleet).

Re: Layoffs

Well almost 75% of the pilots thought MOS4 was a good thing presumably because of the (almost) guarantees flow to AC. MOS4 included DOH for the Georgian pilots. No one saw this COVID-19 shitstorm coming so we just have to deal with it. Plus if Georgian still existed, I could see management wanting u...

Yes but does AC want to pay $18 a share for it and does it want extra capacity when it’s shedding its own?

Re: Layoffs

That’s actually not bad. 600 of a total 4400 is only 14%, far less than the actual or potential numbers quoted by other carriers The Early retirement incentive looks pretty good. It might be closer to 25% What might be closer to 25%? If senior guys elect to take the early retirement then even less ...

I’m amazed you were actually able to get Sky management to agree to a tentative agreement at this time. I would have thought that all the pilot’s bargaining leverage would have evaporated due to Covid

Re: Is it possible to get hired with Restricted Medical "with or as co-pilot" category 1?

Exactly, those with restricted medical are probably the most vigilant about their health and being fit for duty. It’s the overweight, smoker skipper with cholesterol filled arteries and doesn’t know it that it just going to croak in flight one day
