Re: Pilots have higher priority than customers

Air Canada Captains(and maybe FOs?) already have this. When they are deadheading they are guaranteed a seat in first class. I believe they can at their option forfeit the first class seat but they get some kind of pay/benefit uplift if they do.

Re: Can you get approved for a cat 3 medical if you take a psychostimulant to treat ADHD?

The medication used to treat ADHD are prohibited by Transport Canada when it comes to licencing. You will have to come off the meds and be asymptomatic(for ADHD) for a couple of months before TC will look at you for a medical. If you require the meds to function in daily life you will unfortunately ...

Air Canada absolutely wanted two separate OCs ,pay scales, everything, in the beginning of Rouge. It was a way to get around the mainline OC.
Are you saying that Porter management “wanted” this segregation?

Re: “Dashboard”?

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification. I still find it extremely odd that ICAO/FAA would require this differentiation since Porter already flew to the US with the Q400 and most airlines have multiple bases. But they make the rules. Kind of adds to the whole “airline within an airline” vibe...

Re: “Dashboard”?

That’s ridiculous. Porter only has one operating certificate(OC) to the best of my knowledge.
It also cannot be some type of ATC requirement to separate the turboprops from the jets since Jazz has operated jets and turboprops over the years with the same Jazz call sign

“Dashboard”?

Why is the Porter Q400 call sign now "dashboard" while the Embraer pilots continue with the "Porter" call sign?

Re: What's the over and under pilots can focus on contract negotiations

Guys all I was asking was if anyone heard rumors on management’s starting position on scope. It’s no different than if I asked what their starting position on raises was. It’s probably 15% and obviously the Membership won’t accept that and you will have to meet somewhere in the middle or strike or b...

Re: What's the over and under pilots can focus on contract negotiations

I not asking what the MEC’s (or the pilot group’s) stance on it is. I’m wondering if the company has tabled anything regarding scope. By the way, the scope let in the failed MOA was not the reason it failed. All it was for were some 50 seat RJs, operated by a non-Jazz carrier to provide some transbo...

Re: What's the over and under pilots can focus on contract negotiations

So, would anyone care to postulate, is scope on the table at all in the current talks? obviously North American scope clauses currently prohibit small jets greater than 76 seats, but according to bargaining 101: shoot for the moon and settle somewhere in between, would this not be a good angle for A...

Re: Will this affect everything...

The “breakthrough” designation means fast tracked through the approval process twice as fast as the regular process — which is apparently twelve years. That this is some kind of related withdrawal effect can’t be ruled out, perhaps this event includes coming off some other “self medicating” substan...

Re: Will this affect everything...

He said he had become depressed about six months prior and had recently experimented with psychedelic mushrooms. So it sounds like he was trying to self medicate with mushrooms rather than go on an antidepressant that would require a minimum of a six month grounding (per FAA and TC policy on taking ...

Nonmedical,
Any update on your file? Have they at least given you a restricted Cat 1?

Re: AC pilot slips through the vetting process

This guy was still on probation so he will 100% be fired. If he was off probation it might be more difficult for AC to fire him or they would probably have to buy him out but as a probationary pilot, he is done

Re: Air Canada pilots stand “UNITED”

Why are there CRJ-900 pay rates there? So in the event they do operate them, there is a pre-negotiated rate? Hello? Opposed to ACPA method of “capturing” flying already within our scope by agreeing to a discount. Professional v amateur negotiating. Ok if that the case, why would they not have an E1...
