Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

I’m only referring to pilot movement/flight crew hiring etc but in all other previous recessions, pilot hiring ground to a halt as airlines stopped expanding or parked aircraft. However the current environment differs from the past(at least in the AC world which let’s face it, is the biggest driver ...

Re: ALPA Jumpseat Question

If I’m asked to put take a DH in the JS, I always ask the gate agent if there are any commuters trying to get on the flight. If there is not, then I ask the DH if they are being forced by the gate agent to relinquish their seat in the back. If the answer to both questions is no then I might take the...

Re: The Ol' PFO

As per the new 17 year CPA, AC has a 10% equity stake in JAZZ and has a sitting member on the JAZZ/Chorus Board of directors. So it’s a pretty tight relationship. Besides even when AC wholly owned Jazz, they still found a way to PFO significant numbers

Re: The Ol' PFO

Here’s an idea for AC. Forget about even bothering with interviewing JAZZ guys/gals. If they were good enough to get hired by JAZZ and fly AC passengers around for at least 2+ years then why the hell should they even need to be interviewed again by the mother ship. Jazz has the same medical, Psyc ev...

Captain Kirk will! In all seriousness though, they’ll have more than enough guys volunteer. People want to help the young ones exit this dump Dump? Seriously? If you think it is that bad then please just leave. We don't need people like you around here. 1+ Lol, frickin dump. Get outta here boys, sa...

Not to mention that AC Express carriers cannot operate a turboprop greater than 80 seats, according to the ACPA scope clause

Re: Recession incoming

Ok so now your saying we will have another 911? Recessions and downturns in the economy are cyclical and inevitable. 911 was a force majeure that is completely unpredictable. I thought this thread was about whether we headed into another recession and it’s effect on pilot hiring. If you are going to...

I’m not blasting him about the PFO. Heck I got PFO by AC a couple of years ago and was super bummed out about it at the time. But I sure as hell didn’t start posting YouTube videos about how awesome my “choice” was.

Re: Regional Career

Ok I’ve been watching this train wreck of a thread for a couple of weeks and it’s time to inject some reality. The OP(Captain Kirk) was PFO by AC which under the new PML(post March 2019) is quite the accomplishment(in a bad way) On an annualized basis 60% of AC new hires must come from Jazz. And 90%...

So now Encore will have to compete come contract renewal time with the biggest drag on Wawcon in the Canadian airline industry. I had hoped the sh$tshow that is Georgian would fade into obscurity. Sad news all around

Take a read on the Skyregional forum on this very website. It would appear that from a scheduling perspective everyone there is miserable. Jeez you’d figure the extra $8 an hour that the new hires make would negate that...

Re: Union at Sky

Do you even have an MEC yet? And I’m pretty sure You don’t even have a collective agreement yet. Your work and schedule rules will be written into the collective agreement. Once ratified then you can enforce the collective agreement with crew planning/crew scheduling. Until then aren’t you still ope...

Re: Esop reduction..

I don’t know how many bloody times this has to be explained, but here goes again: YYCjetdriver I assume you work for a carrier that owns its Flying? Like probably WestJet? Well in that case your Pilots would be well advised to not sign a long term contract - keep the terms as short as possible. Howe...

Re: Esop reduction..

Maybe if you had been on the negots committee through the back and forth of 2018 you might be more entitled to the disparaging remarks you are making. The AC spot for Jazz pilots is never guaranteed- I was given a PFO during the PML 1.0 process which was supposed to be a “sure thing”. The max 10% PF...

“It still blows my mind that people don't understand how tax works.“ It is entirely possible that yycjetdriver knows exactly how tax works, however like the YYC chairman he prefers to spew bullish!t to further his own smear campaign of the JAZ MEC. Hell its even possible that yycjetdriver IS the Cha...

Re: Deal or No Deal?

You will have a far better chance of getting hired under the PML contained in the new contract than the current one. Current PFO rate somewhere between 20-50%. New contract will be max 10% PFO. Don’t believe me? Go to a roadshow and/or open house, view the roadshow video when it comes out on the 23r...
