Re: Things are brewing in the kitchen.

Thinking out loud.... What does this do to the equipment bid? do they start from scratch and let the entire company bid since it’s a pretty big expansion, or are we all frozen as per the ‘previous’ contract? - would like to explore getting off the Q out west for a new look on something that’s NOT 6...

Re: Classic Dash replacement??

I would imagine so. The Q can do pretty much every classic route out of YYZ except for Sarnia maybe. I would think the remaining -300s would do some flying out of YVR the Q can't get into and some YUL stuff to the smaller places in Kaybec that wouldn't be viable in a 78 seat aircraft. Just my guess.

Re: Things are brewing in the kitchen.

Jazz had a large amount of its YYZ flying taken away and given to SKY and GGN a few years ago. GGN made a mess of it. This is the result. Too soon to see how it will all play out though.

Re: New hire bids

You’re right, actually let’s make an avcanada award and give it to them for being the best paying regional. We will nickname it smartest company on the short bus award. It will be a golden short school bus..... There's no need for insults. We all chose our career paths and we lay in the beds we've ...

Re: Air Canada tailstrike in Hong Kong

Doesn't list the first officers experience. Could be a 2000 hr wonder new hire but who knows. Strange they touched down on the right main gear first with a left hand crosswind. Not the way I was taught to do crosswind landings.

Theres a few hostels downtown that are like 50-70$ a night, some are even cheaper if you want to just use a bed in a bunk-bed setup with other randos. There are some crashpads listed in the crew room too
Hostels? Why don’t you just sleep in a cardboard box under a bridge?

I heard Air Georgian is hiring direct entry captains. Might just be a rumour though. The pay and working conditions are second to none.

I’m happy here. My schedule could be better but the benefits, pension, perdiems and training are top notch.

Re: Jazz Pilot Pool

I think everything is in a bit of a “holding pattern” right now till they sort out the fleet renewal. Classic Dashes are dropping like flies, the 50 seat CRJ are supposed to be gone soon. Retirements kinda slow for the next couple of years etc. Time will tell.....

Re: Air Canada vs American Airlines A320

I still don’t understand how the airlines in the States pay substantially more for the same job, offer way cheaper fares, and still stay in business, grow and modernize fleets...what is AC hiding from us? Are they saving massive amounts of money for a rainy day fund or what? Does this have somethin...

Re: New Arbitrated Contract

If it's not 1 list then the Encore pilots are screwed over. If it is 1 seniority list how will they hire 737 FOs?

No one in their right mind would go. You would be stuck at the bottom forever and never see the left seat at mainline.

Re: AC New hires please us your WB bid

You’re kind of damned if you do, damned if you don’t now with regards to where you live. If you live in a large city where you’re based you’re faced with sky high housing prices, and if you live 1-2 hours out, you’re faced with cheaper housing but a miserable commute. From someone who has been commu...

Airlines donate $$$ to political parties. Political parties delay implementation to appease their donors. Airlines are opposed to the new rules. More pilots = Less $$$ for companies.
