Re: Record revenues vs 4 year flat pay

It ain't gonna change any time soon folks. Air Canada still has a huge stack of applicants with experience dying to get on, and they have their puppy mill (Jazz) giving them a for now endless supply of 2000 hour first officers. Sure they could up the pay to be nice but why would they? If they cut pa...

Are those just the posted numbers? I have not seen them anywhere myself.

Quite a few are only going to 60. As thats what they had signed up for when they started.
The retirement list is on the alpa.org site under the pension & retirement tab.

Also although you don't actually move up on the list, there are many on long term disability due to an aging workforce. Some have been off for 20+ years and although are on the list, will never come back to the line.

Sunwing. If you go to WJ you might get “Swooped”. Plus you’ll get perpetually bumped down the list by the Encore folks. I don’t know what the time to a left seat at WJ would be but I bet it’s a very long time.

It will be back when Boeing has a proven fix to stop them from nosediving into the ground.

It’s easier to think of it as a pizza. You the employees that actually work get the slice. The management get the rest.

Re: Canada faces severe shortage of pilots and aircraft workers - Ottawa Citizen

I wouldn’t encourage anyone to get into this career nowadays. Airline managements have it down to a science as to keep wages as low as possible for as long as possible as mentioned in above posts. Graduate. Come to Jazz or Encore. Make nothing for a few years. Get an upgrade and a taste of better pa...

What’s the starting wage for a Clamp pilot. Are they part of the one list or do those damn Encore pilots Swoop in ahead of them?

"a residential school survivor from Keeseekoose First Nation in Saskatchewan" SO WHAT -- CBC. Everyone has a story. Most of us don't use it in security lines. What does this have to do with anything in this story or proper security screening procedures? Of course, it’s the CBC. They can’t go 3 hour...

Wonder if it’s determined to be the same cause as the Lion Air crash they will ground the Max? 2 crashes in 6 months is bad for a new type. Like DC-10 bad.

They are probably just hiring to replace those that are leaving. I would imagine it would be tough to attract new talent when chances are you won’t have a job once the CPA ends.

I just bite my tongue when I go through screening. I don't talk to them. They are just low paid minions doing a job they are paid poorly for. If one of them gives me attitude which does happen, I just remind myself I make more in 1 day then they do all week and go on with my day.

So if I understand correctly, Jazz will need 376 pilots this year. 196 are coming from GGN, leaving 180 spots for OTS from today to January 2020?
Plus some retirements/early retirements on top of that. Not to mention more and more going on medical leave.
