Re: Westjet B-767 issues
I flew round trip to Gatwick from YVR on AT a few years ago. At least I think Gatwick? Can't remember.. London anyhow. Cost me shy of $800 round trip. With food. And it was a pretty nice flight, good customer service, on time etc.

Re: Where are these low hour direct entry pilot jobs?
I never understand the contempt you will find on this website for working the ramp to get to a flying job. "I'm trained to fly airplanes, not do manual labor!" :prayer: Congratulations. Did you know they sent a monkey to space before a human went? There are obviously operators out there that will t...

what is CMA and NCA? Central Mountain Air and North Caribou Air. Go drive to Pickle Lake and get a job with Frank Kelner at North Star/Cargo North. If you can last you'll get into the Basler right seat pretty fast. Then Caravan or PC12 right seat. Lots of great pilots have come out of that town.

Re: Documents
I've been told by some private guys that they don't do a W&B if they know they are within spec. Like flying two people with a known amount of gas and you do that flight all the time. I think they say if you get ramped its on you to prove you're in limits, in which case you just do one there to show ...

Re: IFR Clearance-Uncontrolled Aerodromes
Lazyeight I was under the impression that SAR would not be alerted until 1 hour after your proposed ETA, not departure. Any references? I've had them nearly dispatched on me before, they went looking for me at 55min after filed time on 126.7. The one hour after scheduled arrival only counts if you ...

Re: Clarification requested for CAR 723.30, Take off alterna
You should always start with the applicable CAR and then go to the associated standard 703.30 (1) Subject to subsection (2), no person shall conduct a take-off in an aircraft in IMC where weather conditions are at or above the take-off minima, but below the landing minima, for the runway to be used...

Re: Clarification requested for CAR 723.30, Take off alterna
You just require landing minima at you T/O alternate Wrong. A takeoff alternate is for planning only if one is required due to departure point weather, and once you apply takeoff power it is no longer required at all. For planning the standard is crystal clear: "The take-off alternate aerodrome wea...

Re: IFR Clearance-Uncontrolled Aerodromes
File your flight plan, and when you're nearing controlled airspace contact center/terminal and request your clearance. Just be sure you're calling up center before 1 hour past your set departure time from said uncontrolled airport or they might send SAR out after you. If you're going to be longer th...

The thread directly below this one has a post that says... Looks like all SIM EVALS will now be taking place in YUL, YYZ and YYC on fixed base sims only. Just had a chat with an ACP today in YVR and said this is the permanent new format. No idea on the PFO requirement though... though I heard 1 year...

For the price, it is what it is... half the time the food is terrible anyways in economy. Eat before you get on and stop by Timmies past security and buy a sandwich and muffin. Grab a water or juice from a shop and you're set. The amount you'll save on the flight will be greater than the cost of tha...

Re: TC rights
In my experience outside of aviation if you're being audited, have everything all waiting in a nice pile... organized and ready to go through. That alone can turn a planned week long audit into a 2-3 day audit. I don't see how it would be any different with TC. Make it easy to search through, and ha...

Too many ATPL books to choose from
Looking for input on what you found the best book to use for studying in addition to the AIM, Weather Command etc. From what I understand Aerocourse seems to be the most popular followed by .. In addition to those I've seen the Cevos book fairly highly rated and then there is also the Sharper Edge v...

If he comes here on a study permit, he should have can get a work permit for the length of time he was in flight school in Canada. Now finding that first job might be a bit tough but doable.
