Re: Citation down North of Kelowna
It really doesn't say anywhere that the passengers were able to reach the cockpit - and pull on the stick either. So what's the point of your comment?

Re: Saving fuel any way they can
I seem to remember the DC4 types telling of shutting an engine down on the empty legs to conserve fuel and also to keep the engine times down.

Have you got a link to verify the above statement? Seems like quite a stretch to me.Tanker299 wrote:The PIC in Canada gets their power from the criminal code.

Re: Flying co-captain
So we have a Pilot in Command, a Second in Command, an Aircraft Commander, a Captain,a First Officer, a Pilot Flying, a Pilot not Flying - oops Pilot Monitoring, a Pilot in Command Under Supervision, a Pilot and a Co-pilot. What the heck is a First Pilot? No wonder we don't know how to address (or d...

Re: Best Countries/Operations for low time pilots
You know Bede, I was thinking the same thing. How is it that someone who sings such praises for another country is so bitter to what appears to be his own. The reason I surmise that Canada is his own is because just recently he lamented that he couldn't afford health insurance in foreign lands and s...

Re: Falsifying a commercial aircraft logbook
What's with the 'Don't Trust TC Enforcement' bit? I'd think not to trust the employer if he wants you to fly an aircraft which has more time on it than the maintenance records reflect. Is this employer also shuffling the revenue to a secret account so as to not pay taxes and loans and such? Is the e...

Re: Gear issue-This guy was very wise to get towed in
I would think the bicycle chain broke and upon the landing vibration (clunking) it shook towards the lock position, and in the towing ordeal, it shook again but towards the unlock and up area of operation. I don't think any A65 were modified to hydraulics.

Re: Who does not plan to fly safely?
Are you also offended when a friend advises you to 'Take Care' as his or her parting words? People don't fly in to see me, but when I get a visitor, it's always after a longish drive on the highway. When they leave, they are faced with a similar drive, and I always say 'Drive Carefully' as part of m...

Re: Efficient low altitude cruise
Also, the RPM is below the green arc which makes me think that it's not an authorized cruise setting. Might be faster and more economical in the short term but how about in the longer scheme of things. Bear in mind I'm not any kind of engineer (design or fixing type).

Re: Is an SFOC required for a fly-in?
I'm sure you've thought of this, ahramin, but in case not. Might be a good idea to print the exemption and have it handy to show to those who might not like the fly-in without a SFOC. Those exemptions are nasty to find even for the best of us.

Thank you Meatservo. I was trying to understand how the example of a Steep Turn specifically was relevant here. It is. I recall evaluating steep turns also and thinking to myself 'And you're surprised that it descended/slowed/climbed/speeded?' Everyone is a passenger!! Would someone please do SOMETH...

Like taking a mixture of Spanish Fly and Tranquilizer. You go looking for it and when you find some, you're too lazy to do anything about it.

Re: Rewriting the IATRA / ATPL for a higher score ?
Maybe some current check pilot could step in here, (A Regulator are you there?) but I think in that scene if you failed the renewal you have demonstrated that you no longer have the skill to hold the certificate. Good food for thought though.

Re: Rewriting the IATRA / ATPL for a higher score ?
Has anyone ever re-written a TC exam that they already received a pass mark on? I'm having trouble seeing the TC office allowing you to write when you will get no (re)certification as a result of the hopefully successful test. I'm also thinking of PPC candidates that I've tested asking if they could...

Re: Flight Instructors (job-career?) - why so negative?
Instructors in places like Flight Safety are very well paid and from what I've seen are respected because most of the time they know of what they speak. Granted, they only deal with pilots and engineers who are fairly experienced but I remember being in class with owner/pilots who were heavy in the ...
