Re: Beech 18 on floats.
Well ., I don't know if you're serious about this or you just felt like reminiscing about the good old days flying planes that have no place in today's world of aviation. There's a reason Beech 18's disappeared in the first place. If they were still a viable solution today, then the West coast woul...

Re: Paying for Air Ambulance?
Most people are surprised to find a bill in the mail from the local ambulance service and thought that their provincial basic medical coverage took care of that- it doesn't. And can be pricey just for a ground ambulance. You would be wise to get third party medical coverage for that back country tri...

Re: C180 vs C182 on floats
The 182 will give you more shoulder width then either the 180 or 185 which is nicer with bigger passengers. Some like the electric flaps but on floats I have always preferred the manual flaps. Less fuss and you always know where your flap setting is. Also easier to pop in an extra notch to get you u...

Re: Ecap problems
Update- the netsuite website navcanada uses kept crashing both safari and chrome on my iPad despite clearing all the cookies and closing everything I could. The file for ecap is now huge -110 mb. I managed to download it with a third party, goodreader, app and transfer it to foreflight. Just thought...

Ecap problems
Has anyone else had issues downloading recent ecaps? My iPad downloads about half on safari and then crashes. The cap gen downloads no problem. It happened the last cycle as well and I noticed the file sizes are about double what they used to be.

Re: Where to land a floatplane in Winnipeg or Southport ?
Selkirk is about as close as you're going to get to Winnipeg and probably Southport on floats. It's been illegal to land anywhere on the river in Winnipeg for about 20 years. The people in Selkirk are friendly and will help you out getting to transportation I'm sure. I was out there a few days ago ...

Re: Question about LOP Operation
Echo photofly. I can only give you my experience on the io-520 with gami injectors and engine analyzer. Below 4000 ft or so, best match of fuel flow, airspeed and temps have been a mp of 25 and prop set at 2300. Lean so fuel flow was about 12-12.5 gph. Hot days may need a bit of cowl flaps open. Hig...

Re: C180 O520 on Floats - Specs?
At close to see level- 25/23 seemed to give the best mix of speed and leaned fuel flow after playing with a multitude of settings. At altitude, wot and 23 to 2350. Then lean and keep temps around 360- never over 400.

Re: Auto Gas STC O-470K - Do or Don't
Lots of almost religious supporters of mmo almost to the point of elevating its powers to divine ones.... I ll just post a summary from another thread that summarized it well: "Theory: ADDED TO GASOLINE: • Cleans and lubricates fuel injectors and carburetors. • Improves gasoline mileage. • Reduces a...

Re: Gear collapse Springbank
Wasn't there an Ice Pilots episode with the CL215 that landed gear up in Turkey, took off and went around to land gear down the second time? Not saying they were right but the whole world saw that one. And I remember the poor camera guy at the end of the runway. He must have been thinking he'd rathe...
