Re: Situation for Jazz New Hires
$36 x 80 hrs = $2880 then subtract 30% taxes = $2016 minus Pension and Benefits (for family) ~$500 = $1516 per month Then add perdium per month $1000 and subtract the breakfast lunch dinner coffee at starbucks and beer. If you're like me you can subtract $800, but if you brown bag it your grand tot...

Re: Air Canada Pool
Before the recession, there were over 100 "poolies" waiting for the call. They picked the top candidates for their last ground school and the rest got a PFO letter.

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
Sorry but I disagree about the comparison between AC and Jazz contracts. The similarities end with the creation of 2 companies. I'm too tired to go on! This contract was a plate of sh*t with a 4 oz piece of Fillet Mignon on it. If you felt you would go hungry at Jazz, you'll vote yes to eating the F...

Re: Jazz and a new Air Canada regional airline.
[ IMO, the Classics do the hardest work in the company! True. But they do not generate the revenue for AC to offset the current Jazz overhead. Other operators will submit bids to AC with entry level crew costs and lower employee benefit expense. And AC will accept the lower bid.o. There will be hun...

Re: Jazz and a new Air Canada regional airline.
My thoughts: Yes, it is a downhill slide. However I would not expected anything else. Even Westjet started a regional division with an eye on lowering its increasing costs. Lets look towards what new chapter Ultra-Low Cost Carriers like Canada Jetlines and Jet Naked bring to the table. Terrible ana...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
I once again say. The only thing to blame for this new contract is the cost pressures placed on Jazz and ALPA by Air Canada. Separate OC or lose all the classics to another airline. Accept the deal and go to Air Canada or face the axe in 2020. That's it that's all. It's a lot simpler than all the c...

[/quote] Very glad to hear this. I also agree that a hand shake is a hand shake, and though these guys are not officially on property, between gentlemen (and women), they are as good as hired. They should be treated that way. I understand the Jazz PMA is a signed legal document, but these things hav...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
I'm so tired of hearing that Jazz Pilots are the highest paid regional....Air Canada Pilots fly the same routes as Jazz with similar jets; example YUL-YHZ-YYT. Ill compare again, a Jazz Captain with 17 YOS makes $120/hr vs the lowest paid 1st year Captain making $142/hr. So please stop saying Jazz p...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
The message I got from the negotiating team was there wouldn't be much of a future for any employee group at Jazz beyond 2020 without the new CPA and pilot CBA. If AC cannot afford to pay what it costs to fly an airplane, then they shouldn't be flying planes! A simple comparison to show the dispari...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
I also have to admit I am embarrassed to be voting for this TA; however, when the company tells you that we need to rid of the senior pilots because they are over paid, it doesn't paint a pretty picture for me at the top of the payscale in 10 years come renewal. There is no longer a long term career...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
Don't be short sighted...the addition of Q400s to the fleet is a nice touch, but you and I both know that that Aircraft is mission handicapped, in other words it can not do long sectors like YUL YWG or YOW YYT etc and is capped at FL250. This means that the additional expansion will be in the form ...

Re: Air Canada Pool
If you're not at AC yet, but in the pool, you should be excited to soon be at AC. One more year flying where you are now won't harm you. There are hundreds behind you that won't even get a call for an interview for years to come...including all the Jazz FOs who were waiting for an interview! If you ...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
I said before I will not discuss the TA until after the ratification vote. There is a lot more to the TA than wages. What I will say is that AC did not want ANY of the 100/300's to stay at JAZZ, the fact that we are keeping the 300's is in itself quite remarkable. If it went the other way there wou...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
So what's better for the industry? - 1377 Jazz pilots on the street in 2020, or 900 good jobs at Jazz until 2025? Do you think AC will just dump Jazz in 2020? AC needs feeders for the expanding international model. Sky Regional and Georgian both have trouble finding crews. They wouldn't be able to ...

So its not a B Scale if the salary ends the same? Celsius and Farenheit are equally chilly at -40, so I guess C and F are the same scale? That doesn't seem right!
