Re: Why??

Cat is right. If I had to meet the standards as mentioned above I would not have made it. I believe, like Cat, that formal education does not create a better or more natural pilot. So far I have managed over 40 years in this business. Thank God I only had to learn to fly to become a pilot. I have al...

Re: Old radial engine

According to Wikipedia only two were built before the project was halted in 1946. I wish I could have heard four of them on take off.

Does anybody know who made the largest Radial piston engine? It's easy to look up.

Re: Oops... flew into US airspace

Flying from Vancouver to any Canadian destination south of Active pass we cross the US boarder twice in each direction. I believe we are in US airspace for 2 minutes and it takes 3 minutes to scramble an interceptor, so they can't catch us. Not even a high speed Beaver.

Re: Pix From a Swamper - Remembering Craig Chenell

No Seneca I "Blackey", No problem, I just landed on the Clearwater strip (Williston Lake) and the front gear collapsed due to a small bracket breaking off allowing the nose gear to release. The main gear remained locked. It was 1979 and come to think of it, it was a Seneca I. Good eye "Aeroyt". Bot...

Re: My New Earphones

Ouch! I feel your pain. Etc. High XS. I really enjoyed protecting my ears and getting away from the weight and pressure of earphones. And they do hang on the throttle when I get in and out. It was a dark and stormy 0630 when I lost them as I was about to climb into the old Beaver for the first time...

Re: My New Earphones

Update on my new earphones.

I dropped them in the damn pacific ocean this morning. Now if that didn't drain the color from my cheeks

That's 4 cellphones, one eyeglass lens, my earphones and 1 portable radio.

[/attachment] Hey everyone, I thought I'd share a few of my photos with y'all from this past summer. I really like the picture Peace Arm. I flew there for many years, until I moved to the coast. Is the bay the Clearwater? I could tell you some great stories about that place, As well as Bear Valley. ...

Re: My New Earphones

Yes, I fly a Beaver. They work very well in flight and take off. I hear no noise from outside, and the window is noisy without them. The engine is just a nice rumble and the firing strokes can be heard more clearly. Just keep in mind, it depends on how well you insert the ear buds in your ears. On a...

Here is my 2 bitches about the new license. 1 there are places to stamp for 52 medicals. That's good for ten medicals a year and 2 left over for the 5 years life of the book. 2 There are no pages reserved for your company documentations. So you still need to pack a folder of some kind for company ca...

Re: C-206 baron stol kit

Caused by the change in airflow over the tail. Its not a Baron Stoll kit but one designed in the 70's in the States. I bought a 206 in 1977 and had it installed. The ailerons extent to 12 degrees, leading edge cuffs and wing fences added. It lowers the indicated stall speed to below the ASI lowest i...
