Re: Pilot Count
Making surplus rejoining active contingent on a yes vote was pretty much clear vote buying. Let's be honest. It was valuable to ACPA and the company to get another 200 votes to pass this garbage AIP. So don't think it doesn't benefit the company. Plus the 600 that had no vote/say in recent election...

Re: Air Canada Revises the Terms of its Capacity Purchase Agreement with Chorus Aviation for Regional Flying
Well this has potentially a huge incidence in this case...The active Jazz might be way more inclined to vote yes and be fine with a DOH setup...Add the 600 laidoffs and you will have a completely different cast ballot.... Anybody sharing the same concerns? Feels bad don't it? We laid off pilots at ...

Re: Overweight pilots
I was told I needed to lose a few lbs at my last AC medical. I'm 185 and 5'9", so yes, BMI is high. But jesus, i've seen a couple biiiiiig boys. I wonder if they get read the riot act. I got laid off, and no longer need a current medical. One less person to tell me to lay off the smarties 8) Now if ...

Re: More layoffs coming!
Sorry to hear that... as someone whos been furloughed (along with the other 599) with no CEWS, it sucks. Sucks a lot.At least JAZZ,PORTER,ENCORE,WESTJET,SUNWING,AIR TRANSAT are getting CEWS while everyone at Sky who is laid off is not. Only active employees are on CEWS which makes zero sense.

Re: Investing strategies for the commercial pilot?
EIF, BNS, TELUS, TRP, FORTIS, SUNCOR, CIBC and a REIT (which is being taken private right away). Already average $300+ a month in monthly DRIP dividends for doing nothing. I contribute automatic every month. Set it and forget it. Unsexy, completely boring, dollar cost averaging, couch potato, easy, ...

I'd also like to know the source. First I've heard of it. Rotten luck to be the only group without CEWS. Edit to add.... The fact that we are getting information regarding pension buy backs today, tells me AC has no plan of putting us back on CEWS (in other words, having equal pension contributions)...

Re: COVID MOA 2
How much do the benefits cost AC? Claimsecure is an administrator, not an insurer. The CWIPP pension costs them 4.5% of SFA. The news will soon come out about CEWS. They can't resist free money... As a furloughed member, I just applied for EI. Being on CEWS would be a huge change for me and my fami...

Re: Non Aviation Employers Don't Respect Pilot Experience
It's extremely frustrating. I'm working for $16.80 an hr in a casual position while I search for something long(er) term. Looking at various jobs/industries. I've found you need formal training AND experience to make anything over ~$24/hr. This means schooling and experience which, even best case, c...

Beat me to it Sharklasers.
I agree. I don't expect my fellow pilot group to continue taking concessions, nor do I want them to. I made my own decisions and I have to make the best of it.

I'm not sure I follow. The 162 are on CEWS and being paid, just like me. Everyone took at 27% reduction in hours (75, now 55 hrs) in order to prevent further layoffs.

Re: CEWS
That's well put Rudder- can't really add anything more to that statement. A CEWS extension offers a couple huge advantages over going to EI or CERB. We continue to receive benefits, pension, and most importantly (in my opinion), YOS. Coming back after 2 years on layoff to year one flat pay is the bi...

As far as I know-Yes. I’m on the Surplus list. I mean CEWS would be nice and all, but I understand AC’s point of view. I thought Management was just playing hard ball with the Government.
Only a couple days left before they have to give us our notice... I wish they would hurry up and do it already.

Yeah I said the same thing too. Although, the most fun I ever had, with a solid group of guys, was living on a reserve. Flew our bags off and had some awesome parties.Thank you Very Much ! Will do ! And I don't have any 705 dreams at all :/ a turbine or a multi and I will be happy

Re: A Twist on Medical
I lost my medical for 6 month due to migraine(s). Told my aviation doctor, he told me not to fly for the time being. I was at a respectable 705 company and I was removed from my flying with pay. Long story. Did MRI, CT Scan, saw a Neurologist- everything came back negative. Neurologist diagnosed me ...

Re: The Avcanada COVID Employment Poll
Close! Felt like I was checking NOTAMS.
I answered with what I copied. I think that's the closest to my situation and represents the spirit of the poll.
I will be laid off. I will get a temporary non-aviation job. I want to return to my pilot job (recall).
