Re: It is supposed to be a quarter g maneuver
Yups. With a sim instructor who knows it is happening and then starts rushing you while you are still processing if it is going to be a climb or descent, and how much you need. Not realistic at all. You don't have much time, but you do have some time. It's never a good thing when you are pushed int...

Re: stolen float plane
I have it on good authority that the floats were badly holed but someone (owner?) decided it needed to be towed with out any temp repairs. It almost completely sank (engine and avionics submerged) under tow and was beached on the jetty at the entrance to the North Arm. Shame, as it was a gorgeous ma...

Re: Leaving with a bond?
The SAME government that thinks hard working small business owners are nothing more than parasitic TAX CHEATS, does nothing when foreign funded, "professional" WHITE protestors shut down our entire rail network. Courtesy of our Trudeau government. Well done. Everyone is happy to let this go on, bec...

Re: Leaving with a bond?
It's all well and good to talk about the company who gets left holding the bag when someone leaves after a training and how shitty it might be. How about the other side of the story? What if a pilot signed on for a specific set of advertised working conditions? After training it changed and the job ...

Re: US visa for Sim Training (Canadian PRs)
Getting your answer from Flight Safety can also depend on which city facility you will be training with. The last time I used them the facilitator was just ok. It took some effort to get responses to questions. Where are you doing your training?

Re: Plane dumps fuel over Los Angeles
Career ending might be a rush to judgement without knowing what went on in the flight deck. I'm thinking there would be 4 warm bodies with a pretty good level of experience (and probably seniority). A quick look at the QAR, a download of the CVR and a conversation with the CP is usually all it takes...

Re: Westjet CYHZ
Hi Aux, The civilian airliner world is likely much different than the military world. After an infamous 737 crash in Cranbrook where the reversers were stowed for a go-around when a snowplow was sighted with subsequent re-deployment of one of them, all jet airliners were restricted from doing this ...

Re: Westjet CYHZ
The gouge I gave is for my own aircraft types. There is a minimum distance any aircraft (with or without thrust reversers) that will be required to takeoff again after decelerating to a certain speed. Whether that distance is practical is another matter. I would challenge anyone to look at the numb...

Re: Fokker 100 Crash in Almaty, Kazakhstan Dec 26,2019
If I were on a newer model 737 and saw frost on top of the wing, I would suspect that the captain is legally taking off with all the required approvals in order. Ummmm, can you clarify this statement? I am quite sure that knowingly taking off with ANY frost on top of the wing won't satisfy the legal...

Re: Is this a good reason for a high speed RTO?
Uh yeah, because those pesky electrical systems cause so many fires. A generator fault is NOT a great reason for a high speed reject. I'd rather have one less gen and go flying (esp when the RTOW is max weight) than burning brakes and/or blown fuse plugs any day! As for a FLAP EICAS warning above V1...

Re: Boeing 737MAX test pilot
You guys maybe missed my point, no one (passengers) cares and remembers and swears that they'll never fly the 787 because of the battery issue. The sad thing is that after a bit of time the MAX crashes will fade and for cheap tix, the same "Ill never fly in one again" crowd will happily hop in! As f...

By your response I am quite sure you either have no related experience, (that's ok, it's not a bad thing) or you didn't read the report(s) in which there was a lot of criticism leveled at the crew for their serious mismanagement of the basics of aircraft handling. Go find it and read the part about...
