Re: Skiplane Groundloop

That picture looks like somebody who did not leave themselves enough room to turn? That is very common in ski flying. I would have to see the tracks further back. I suppose somebody could groundloop a skiplane. It would take some work, but I suppose some pilots would be able to pull the maneuver off?

Re: Skiplane Groundloop

I have a fair bit of ski time and it really is unlike wheel flying once the airplane touches the snow. Misuse of brakes and not touching down straight are the primary cause of ground looping on wheels. The lack of brakes takes that risk out of the equation in ski flying and the greater degree of sid...

Re: Air Bravo Again

Far more operators are burned by bond jumping pilots, then pilots burned by operators. The reason bonds exist is because whiny, homesick, mama's boy pilots can't handle work and leave after a month. There are more of these types every year. Its the same reason that godforbid, northern operators ask ...

Re: Legal Marijuana

The first time I am exposed to second hand smoke I will sue the growers, sellers and the user. That goes for anybody who stabs me with a needle filled with heroin or meth. If I am exposed to a medically disqualifying drug, I will certainly take action.

Re: Missing airplane on flight from Penticton to Edmonton

How much snow has fallen in that area since this airplane went missing? Is that a factor in calling off the search?

Re: Can you wobble while landing?

Switchflicker I have had the seat in a Cessna slide back on me on wheels just as I rotated. I was glad I let go of both the control column and the throttle. Amazing how far away everything looks from back there and how difficult it is to pull yourself back up when you can't reach the dash and the pl...

Re: Can you wobble while landing?

I have seen it happen more then once where a Beaver friction lock does not work properly. That's usually from people pumping the throttle every start with it tightened all the way. That's a separate thread however. Anyways the guy goes bouncing along over the waves while the power slowly comes back....

Ya, wobbling is not that difficult. He should have finished the ferry flight.

Re: Beaver down

There are graveyards filled with bodies because pilots thought the Beaver was easy to fly. The problem is that physics apply to all airplane types.

The deceased pilot's wife, was my kids teacher and has recently changed her name back to her Maiden name. I have known several pilots over the years who have died. I see the effect that these things have. I think back to those incidents every time I see a dead pilots, grown children, or a pilot's wi...

Re: The solution to pilot shortage?

Thank God for that. I have not seen many employees I would want flying airplanes with hundreds of people on-board over the past decade. There were some in the decade or two before that but not many these days.

The years of trophies for losers and the effort to stop bullying in schools has resulted in a generation of useless babies. Lets pray Boeing gets those pilot-less planes going asap.

"Adapt or die"

They are.
Boeing has announced they will be testing self flying planes this summer.

Thank God, the thought of putting my family on airplanes flown by the entitled Millennials I have seen over the past decade is terrifying.
