Re: Form letter to Jean-Francois Mathieu, Chief Enforcement,

I agree Cat. Keep up the good fight. Sadly, no, I don't know of too many these days. I used to like Harper, back in the day, but his arrogance has gone beyond belief. Even those who believe become corrupted once elected. It hurts less when you stop hitting your head against a brick wall. Wrong attit...

Re: Chris Hadfield as Major Tom

I think in one of his posts/tweets/whatever it was mentioned the guitar was already up there. I don't think he packed it along, at least not on this trip.

Re: Form letter to Jean-Francois Mathieu, Chief Enforcement,

Cat, & others, IMHO I don't see a change coming anytime soon, in TC, in government, in the world. Today, he who fights for what is right, and fights fair will never make it to a position of power. And if he ever does, he will then have to use every dirty trick to stay there. If you're not in power y...

Re: Letter to Jean Francois Mathieu TC Chief enforcement off

I suggest you encourage the someone who wrote to you to take their information directly to a TC Enforcement Office. I suggest they do it for two reasons; first because they (hopefully) have direct knowledge of the alleged violation, and secondly, because your name is now so deeply embroiled in the s...

Re: A few minutes of your time

As I said on a similar thread regarding letters to TC, but apparently pertinent here too: It won't work. All complaints about a single issue would be wrapped into one case and investigated--or not--as one case. You might have some traction for a short time by calling or sending letters to various En...

It won't work. All complaints about a single issue would be wrapped into one case and investigated--or not--as one case. You might have some traction for a short time by calling or sending letters to various Enforcement offices and inspectors across the country--but as soon as they clued into what w...

If you're in the business you're likely aware of the regulatory powers of the Fire Marshall. Have you tried contacting them?

That's a good article. I think Ms. Schmidt hits the nail squarely on the head.

Unfortunately I also have to agree with armchair. The bottom line is money.

Re: Transport Canada hiring Airworthiness Inspectors

The Recruitment & Retainment Allowance was a terminable allowance given to CAIs (pilot inspectors). I don't recall if it is still being used, or if it was given to other groups. Various groups got various terminable (meaning they can end with a new contract) allowances for different reasons/excuses....

Re: Transport Canada hiring Airworthiness Inspectors

$66,568 to $75,977 (There will be an additional monthly terminable allowance of $549.17, as per the collective agreement. (Currently under review) A candidate hired off the street may come in at any of about six increment levels within that pay scale--initial external hiring is one of the very few ...

Re: Wind turbines around airports

Make darn sure those things don't penetrate the OLS (obstacle limitation surface) of certified airports -- or the airports could lose their certification! Airports formerly owned by TC mostly have zoning regs which would protect them, assuming people know the zoning regs exist & ensure they are enfo...

Re: College of Pilots.

3) change starts at the top and also importantly at the bottom too. Younger pilots and those not currently served by strong pilot unions need to gain strength and support if we are ever to lift our profession out of this very long drought. If the floor beneath you is weak you will fall as well. Tea...

Re: College of Pilots.

I recently read Into the Abyss, and what struck me most was how little the culture in aviation has changed since that 1984 accident.

We have to give the College a chance to change this culture. I don't know if it will work, but I really don't think it can be worse than the status quo.

Re: Into the Abyss - Wapiti Crash

I echo what Mr. Wings says. It was a very good read, well written, and I recommend to all. As I read it I kept wondering "What has changed?" since that accident in 1984. Well, less likelihood of an accident due to erroneous DR navigation (with increased risks associated with GPS nav). That was about...

Re: FEES FEES FEES

Great video! Thanks for sharing.

I used my Aeroplan points to book travel to Spain via LHR. 'Free' tickets--plus $900 fees, each! Six months earlier I bought tickets & could get to Spain via a more direct route for $1100 CAD each.
