Re: WestJet Private Forum
Just for the record, if you did want a private forum it wouldn't cost you anything on AvCanada.

Re: I want to get back to my profession. Please help!
what city do you currently live in? are you willing to move? where aren't you willing to move to? which companies have you applied to? I live in Toronto. I am willing to relocate anywhere in Canada. I applied almost all known companies within Canada. Thanks to everyone responding. Have you used the...

Re: Is one crazy to be considering a ramp position with 800TT?
I quit flight instruction at just under 500hrs to work the ramp in el armpitto. Ended up being one of the best moves in aviation I ever made. The industry was almost as shitty as it now. Of the people that stayed instructing not one of them ended up ahead of me. Infact, was a reference for some of t...

Re: Hiring
One of my friends was interviewed in 2001, and placed in the hiring pool. He was subsequently selected on the first course when hiring resumed (July 2005). No additional interviews, but he had to go through another medical. The max years of service a Jazz pilot can bring over is 6... 4 from LOU 18 ...

I'm all for it until they start trying to stop progression to our awful duty regs. This is an owners group, not a pilot group.

Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
Ok. I will not try and rant. but there is a few things I dont understand here: 1. Why do mainline guys look at what jazz costs instead of how much profit jazz makes mainline? Cost is sort of irrelevant unless you look at profit also. 2. AC mainline fails to make money in the best economic times in ...

Re: Hiring
Becks: I think in the past, if it's been a few years they restart the hiring process fresh. Someone from the pool could have shown up to work drunk, or had multiple violations in the preceding years. If they just began hiring from the pool again, they might unwittingly hire someone who is no longer ...

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Is this a good time to jazz ? I understand Jazz has a Capacity Purchase Agreement with Air Canada until Dec 2015 or mabye longer which tells me they would be relatively stable! ...until mainline files for bankruptcy again and gets to squeeze more out of Jazz... Do jazz pilots get a Air Canada mainl...

Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
Dave: I agree with almost everything you say. The one exception being your line about others not wanting your success. We're all linked way too close to hope for anything but the best for each other. If your contract goes well this spring, we'll have something to point to. If ours goes very poorly, ...

Looks like it's been taken down. It used to be off Sault colleges main web page for the aviation program.Skyhunter wrote:Hey... Class of 90, last of the 2 years. There used to be an Alumni Website but I seem to have lost its location. Anyone know the correct web address.

Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
RFN: I'm by no means an expert on this at all. My take was that before Jazz was spun off, it would have been legally easy to form some kind of common list or union. This was the goal of the global solution, to prevent one side from fighting the other side, to allow us to both make gains together. RF...

Re: A few questions about the CPA with Jazz.
Apparently the global solution talks between ALPA and ACPA were going quite well before Jazz was spun off as an income trust. Having Jazz spun off removed any possibility of having common employer and thus a merged list of any kind.

Re: For Pilots Dreams Run Into Reality-NY Times Article
The tech sector, lawyers, engineers and accountants are not unionized and they all do just fine. Lawyers, Doctors, Professional accountants, professional engineers, etc, all have professional colleges which control the entry into their field. By controlling the number of people allowed to be licens...

Re: Jumpseat Priority
Rampies don't have a 'Red Pass'. Red passes are for Aircrew. The only Air Canada employees permitted in the J/S of a Jazz flight deck are AC pilots and F/A's. If Montie wanted a J/S, he would need special authorization from the VP Flt Ops, and he would need to load up on Advil (for the headache he'...

Sorry Tony, Your guess is wrong. I'm not management, just a pilot. Thanks for your insight, I'm sure you're advise is genuine as always. Dave. I believe that to be misleading. You may not hold an official "management" position. However, I would argue that you are in a position of authority. ...

If 25% of the Canadian workforce is belongs to a union, then 75% of the workforce does not. Therefore, the majority (75%) have rejected trade unionism. The posters that have supported trade unions have all expressed feelings of vulnerability as the reasons for supporting trade unions. I would sugge...

Re: Hiring 2009 predictions
I think if you look back to the job adds from 2001-2003 that should give you an idea of what's coming. We've yet to really see it as bleak as it was then. There was guys with 320 type ratings flying caravans, and PC-12's at the company I was working for at the time. We haven't had major layoffs from...
