Re: ICAO ATPL to TC ATPL and logbook
Good day all, I am an airline FO with a valid ICAO ATPL and A320/IR rating, I also have an FAA CPL/SEIR (which I obtained during my flight training in the United States in 2014). Is it easier/cheaper for me to convert the FAA CPL first to TC CPL and then apply for the TC ATP or directly apply for t...

Re: Constant Speed Props
Basically, can i decent with full fine prop with low MP, basically using the prop as a speed break would result in a high rate of decent without exceeding airspeed limitations... Yes, that's how pretty much every turboprop does it when they need to descend at a high rate. However, I can't see how y...

Re: Help me with a SAMRA question!!!
The key to this question is the Temperature. We know that a HIGH has descending air, AKA Subsidence, and the temperature increases. We also know that a LOW has ascending air, AKA Ascendance, and the temperature decreases. Therefore, in this example, we will have a LOW to the NW, and a HIGH to the S...

Crosswind and having one’s feet on the floor rather than working the rudder pedals.
I once saw a -2 pilot do exactly that at AM9 as I was heading down the gangway with my passengers. It wasn’t pretty and much like the event above, the aircraft remained upright but the right wing was toast!

Re: Help with a panel upgrade on my Seneca
Get your avionics shop to source the radio’s. It will be way less hassle in the long run as if there are any issues with the radios the shop should take responsibility. If you show up with some random set if radios and say install them, they will take no responsibility for any issues and charge you...

Re: Help with a panel upgrade on my Seneca
Agree with ShawnR on this… You shouldn’t be worried about what others think… So back to your Seneca… A GTN750, and then two G5’s (one per side) perhaps a GTX335 transponder… (some may dislike me immensely for saying this) but a KLN 98 would do the trick although a 430/530 GPS would compliment everyt...

Saw them in person Saturday afternoon, (here’s a pic I took while in attendance) what a bad way to end Reno’s Air race championships history. The land owners/developers are unfortunately now rejoicing.

Out of curiosity… how does one claim “highly competitive” when the organization has yet to run a class from end to end?

He doesn't know what he signed up for. Neither do you! 58 Porter is way better then anything in market today. So I know what am I doing. Such as scamming young impressionable pilots by mentoring them for a fee when the rest of us do so pro bono because someone once upon a time… helped us? Go stuff ...

Meanwhile  Screenshot 2023-09-07 151433.jpg Sounds like someone who could describe a lot of us at some point of our careers here! In my case it was a nickname that stuck for awhile after flying my first season on floats. The irony is that I had done nothing to deserve “catching” that nickname!...

Re: Missing Aircraft in BC
- Another in the 70's was an American plane going to Terrace from the BC interior. During the search 442 squadron lost a Buffalo in the Telkwa pass. If memory serves, the target of that search was never found. It was quite common to lose one, two, or three military aircraft during search and rescue...

Re: Airline Career
If your goal is to be an airline pilot I would avoid going to a medevac operator as you likely wont fly as much as you would at a 705 operator. If you're currently logging PIC time just keep applying to Encore, Porter and Jazz. Complete your ATPL as soon as you can and upgrade and upgrade as soon a...

Re: Air Canada stopping non stop flights from Calgary.
Simply increase pilots pay , FO pay should start with 95k , DEC captain with 190 starting that will solved pilots shortage. At Jazz or Air Canada? Cause if that's Jazz, that's more than any of the first 4 years at Air Canada lol. Idiot Wow. I’ve posted drivel on this site after consuming a few too ...

Re: C150 down near ottawa
Shortly afterwards, the engine power decreased more considerably; the aircraft entered a steep right bank, followed by a steep nose down attitude and impact with terrain. The aircraft was destroyed, one person was fatally injured, and one received serious injuries. TSB deployed to the Yikes. I get ...

Re: What Was Aviation Like Back then?
First job had me lucky… An Apollo II GPS. She was a fine tool indeed. Although I still wore that little VNC paper out! It complimented the on board Loran C which was pretty much useless at that point. (Early 2000’s) In many ways although I loathe what has happened to the next generation of pilots, I...

Lots of union & pay talk going on between pilots None of us want to be a passenger with crew that enter wrong FMS data while discussing a collective agreement Focus on the aircraft while on duty There’s time to talk MEC updates when waiting for crew transport or at the hotels You can even volunteer...
