Re: ATC assigning "Ground Speed" for sequencing.

You're ahead of your time Jerricho I wish. As I said, I (an others) have been on the receiving end of this one (queue disparaging lewd comment). First aircraft comes over no speed assigned, second aircraft has been "assigned the ground speed" of the one their following. Maybe it is the way of the f...

Re: ATC assigning "Ground Speed" for sequencing.

You are correct reference MANOPS ywg-atc . IAS or MACH are the only things referenced in MANOPS regarding speed. Having heard it used more than a few times recently, I thought I would get a pilot point of view. Personally, it's making me cringe (MANOPS aside) as it has caused some confusion. But, so...

ATC assigning "Ground Speed" for sequencing.

Question for you pilot types (especially Turboprop drivers) Let's say you're flying into Terminal airspace and you're assigned a ground speed rather than IAS for sequencing. My brain only works in IAS, but I supposed with GPS and all that good gear it's possible. Good thing or bad thing or couldn't ...

Re: Suggestion to Nav Canada

Dude, that is a good idea and something I had forgotten about........at Heathrow the ATIS is broadcast over the BNN and BIG frequencies.

Certainly give that Customer Service 1-800 number a call.

Really? 5 times? Did they get a licence?

Re: Nav Canada

It's not only the check-out rate. There have been some licensed "departures" for other ANSPs from a few specialties around the room.

Re: Nav Canada

It's a worldwide problem.

AirServices Australia are hurting at the moment, to such an extent they are "closing down" huge chunks of airspace (TIBA - Traffic Information Broadcast Areas). The FAA, NATS, DFS, IAA......all need more bums on seats.

Re: YWG Restrictions - AGAIN!

Stand by sunshine. You level an accusation against Air Trafficers based on pure rumour and conjecture which is refuted............and you view that as arguing? Never let the facts stand in the way of a good story eh? As to working towards a solution, don't be so damn insulting. If you think for one ...

Re: YWG Restrictions - AGAIN!

The PPR for training slots is certainly working, and a big thank you to those folk who have moved their slots to smooth things out during the day. Unfortunately, there have been occasions where slots have been book for holds/approaches where the aircraft doesn't turn up, and we've received no notifi...

Re: Lancaster YXD

Landed here in Winnipeg a few hours ago.

Did a low approach on 31 and turned out right over the top of the ACC.

One of the guys here had his camera with him and took some good shots. Will post pics when able.

Re: Evergreen 747 Waterbomber at YEG

I believe it's doing demos across the country.

Was supposed to do one here in YWG on Monday, but I believe was canceled.
