Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
Here's some more food for thought: SR just unionized, and is in a position to negotiate improvements in WAWCON. Jazz pilots just undermined that whole opportunity.

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
You're all missing the point: SR pays $8/hr more than the new contract, which means that Jazz had plenty of room to raise wages and still be competitive for AC's flying. So to all the posters above, why didn't Jazz pilots try to negotiate for a pay scale that's the same as SR's ? With the same benef...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
AC pilots are the lowest paid mainline pilots in North America with by far the lowest year 1-4 non CA pay. What are your thoughts on that? I don't see how that's comparable in any way, considering that work isn't being shifted to whatever airline pays the least. If that were the case, though, by yo...

Re: Jazz or Sunwing ?
There was a high probability that voting no would've led to more work going to GGN or Sky, since these carriers were specifically designed to reduce the leverage of the AC/Jazz pilot groups...Please explain to me how this would've helped the next generation of pilots? Sky pays substantially more th...

Re: Boeing Tumbles on Grand Jury Subpoena Probing 737 MAX Approval
Passenger opinion has center stage right now and it doesn't matter whether or not they can tell the difference between a 67 and a 37. Their's an expression circulating among airline passengers right now and it isn't very complementary for Boeing. Perhaps you've already overheard it? If it's a Boein...

Re: Twin otter on the ice
I don't know any experienced Twin Otter operators that have abandoned our hired a heavy lift helicopter because of a station 60. Usually within 2 weeks its patched up enough to ferry it out. I hate to say it but this is typical Military not having the experience to operate these aircraft. Not saying...

roadrunnersmother is either a troll, or a registered sex offender. He claims he can't even get an interview at EVAS, which means there can't possibly be a shortage of experienced pilots.

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
That warrants a grounding imho. Good to see individual Airlines and countries taking the initiative. There's a big difference between grounding and pulling ETOPS certification. If there's a satisfactory rectification to the problem such that the aircraft are deemed airworthy again, then I don't see...

Re: Ethiopian Airlines: 'No survivors' on crashed Boeing 737 max
By far the biggest threat to the Max is the engines - with all the problems they are having - they should have had their ETOPS certification pulled long ago. Of course - you don't hear anyone going on about that. ETOPS certification has to do with failure rate, and as far as I'm aware there hasn't ...

Re: Air Canada YHZ
What's the issue with surveying their current and prospective customers, doing a cost benefit analysis, and deciding from there, from a customer centric point of view? You don't think they've done that? I would bet they have, and I would bet that they've found that it's not cost-effective to build ...

Re: Air Canada YHZ
I must confess that I too wonder why everyone is so appalled that YHZ doesn't have an ILS to 32 and 05 instead of putting any onus on the carriers to get WAAS. I've heard the counter-argument from folks who say that from a strictly business point of view, if Halifax wants to increase its cargo busi...

A business not responding to market forces is doomed to failure. While there may be emotional retorts from those whose personal plans have been disrupted due to no fault of their own, the reality of the market is different and has demanded a condign response from WestJet to ensure its continued suc...

One can look at it as Loblaws groups of companies, or Canadian Tire group of companies ordering "tools of their business", all going to different destinations within the same "group" but under "different" companies. This model of large corporations targeting different sectors of the market by diffe...

A search for the contact person, Bob Backhouse, shows that he's the DFO for West Wind. There was an article from December saying that they're trying to expand into neighbouring provinces, but I don't know why they wouldn't do it under their own name, or using aircraft that they already operate. Link...
