Re: How to get rid of ACPA?
Postmaster... The issue is well before the leaked Memo you are referring to. All members of the MEC are duty bound to follow the rules constitution of ACPA, and when dealing with Legal bargaining, they are legally bound to follow the law regarding good faith, and illegal job actions, or counseling o...

Re: how long
Valleyboy, I suppose a remote operator may be able to slow taxi, but cannot pick up the subtle clues that are always present. On a walk around, can a remote operator really assess how slippery the ramp is, or a subtle change in the precipitation rate or type? That’s part of the tactile feedback that...

Re: how long
I agree with Rockie. To the posters who are using military UAV’s as examples, do not look at their respective attrition rates, it is fearfully high. It’s just that they are secretive, unmanned, and operating over politically sensitive areas, so they are not widely reported on. They have operational ...

Rockie,
The FA’s usually just turned around and pushed on the locked door over and over and over again. The trained pilot actioned the automatic door control.
Cheers.

Re: Survey on two person in the cockpit rule
Ifly.... Most FA’s haven’t got a clue on how to open the door. They have less ability to “call for help”. And most have no idea how to find a radio , a mike, and a PTT. Your suggestions that these would be things they can do is pure fantasy, and something only seen in the movies. What they could do ...

Re: Survey on two person in the cockpit rule
The assumption that you are making Rockie is that the FA is sane. This cannot be ascertained nor guaranteed. Pilot to pilot interaction in the flight planning room, the walk to the gate, the coffee lineup, and such, can give warnings of the mental state of each. This does not happen between FA’s and...

Re: Why Can’t All Airlines Continue CEWS?
POLITICS. Justin Trudeau has consistently chased votes with his targeted programs and payouts. CR and the entire industry have been waiting for, and expecting (hoping) for a governmental support program. If we are to believe CR, every other top 20 airline has been given direct support from their res...

Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
When talking about infrastructure projects, Canadians need to look past government projects. A major infrastructure project could be the Energy East Pipeline to Saint John. It would employ thousands, and provide long term permanent jobs in NB. The Northern Gateway project is another that should be m...

Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
Old Fella, Agreed. As a country, and more specifically, thefederal government ,needs to have a realization that taxes and social handouts do not get an economy running. Investment in infrastructure, industry, and reducing needless inefficiency is what does. Deficits definitely do not take care of th...

Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
Old fella, The demographic make up of the circle is paramount. My circle of contacts/ friends/acquaintances are chomping at the bit to get back to sanity. We are not waiting for a magic serum that will arrive no sooner than 12 months from now. We are not in the high danger group. Frankly, not many C...

Rockie,
You just admitted that isolating the vulnerable and elderly has never been done and is impossible. How can you possibly think that isolating the entire population is any more effective?
Cheers

CFM Symphony,
Check the Financial Post May 6, 2020.
Westjet will make it through Covid, but may not recover to previous size, warns CEO. Is the article title.
Sims said that during early March, WJ was burning 25000000$ a day. His statement not mine.

Brooks, Sims is on record saying that WJ was burning 22 000 000 a day as well. Both companies would initially burn more cash and then settle into a reduced rate as time goes on. AC announced the end of the CEWS program for 20000 employees because even with the program, the corporation is still payin...

Yes they will, their fleet is largely paid for or leases that are easy to get out of and basically 1 type, they own their simulators so they can ramp up quickly to take advantage of seasonal booms like Christmas season. They own their whole feeder network and can move people around whenever/ wherev...

Ayseven, Quit with the emotional appeals to justify your position on the quarantine. You may have already “killed people unnecessarily “.Bacteria live everywhere. Clothes, hair, hands, etc. At one time, you may have passsed bacteria to an elderly person that morphed into the flu, Norwalk, a cold and...

“So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is...fear itself — nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.”

Seems very relevant today.

Re: Terrible news for the Air Canada work force...
It all political. In the USA, the Democratic Party realizes that their only hope of beating Trump is if the economy tanks. Give Trump a strong economic record to run on, and he will win. They have a weak candidate, no matter if it’s Biden or Sanders. The mainstream media knows this as well. That is ...

Re: Snowbird replacement aircraft
The Hawk trainers have been identified as having a nearing shelf life. I believe that once the F35 is selected as the F18 replacement again, there will be an examination of the lead in training aircraft. The Hawk apparently has some issues replicating what some Airforces would like to see regarding ...

Re: Air Canada and Transat announce Increased Purchase Price to $18 per Share
A quick glance of the financial results from 2019 show a 33000000$ dollar loss for Transat. AC shows a 917000000 $ dollar profit for 2019. 2019 was a high water mark for the global airline industry. Airlines consistently showed profits across the board. If Transat struggled to post largely positive ...

Rockie, I started to pull up reports/ studies and stats to support a counter argument to your position. I then realized that this would be meaningless. You and I would merely go round and round, refuting ideas with hand picked stats. There’s no winner and no loser. We are both entrenched. I wish you...
