They are looking for airline and overseas experienced guys to fill widebody right seats. If the starting pay was increased, they would get dozens of corporate jet guys with lots of overseas experience. You can't compare with exchange rates. Much of everything you buy here costs similar dollar for dollar in the states.

They always pushed but when we said no, that was the end of it...then they usually found the next pilot in line to do it.
And we still flew in ice after the North Bay crash.

Realistically, as long as AC flat pay is such a disgrace, wages aren’t going anywhere. And the flat pay won’t change until the resume pile thins out drastically. That will never happen as long as a kid with 250hrs can sit right seat in an airliner. The 1500hr rule sure changed the financial fortunes...
