Re: Iceland success. Same as Alberta plan
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/newsletters/2021-02-26/the-keys-to-iceland-s-success Granted they are a smaller country but their testing was the same as the Alberta entry plan. Couldn't they have done this all over Canada Harder to instill mass fear if people can leave the country. Those of us who ...

Re: Interesting airplane ads
After the 2008 economic crash there was a lot of pressure from investors for companies to sell their jets. A guy in the states set up brokerage with a unique specialty. You paid him a monthly fee to not sell your jet. And that slots right in at the number three position in the “business ideas I wis...

I don't know why you need the postcard to send him a letter. Mail to federal MPs is free regardless.

Re: Skydive Toronto Jump Pilot Course
Avoid it. It's a scam and a well-known one at that. They take your money to "train" you on a Cessna 182 (as if it's any different than the planes you've flown previously), and then only hire certain people. I remember hearing about this scam years ago when I was in flight school.

Re: Import aircraft for owner maintenance category questions
Another option is to make the necessary repairs in the United States and have your uncle's wife register it in the United States. Fly it to Canada, pay GST/HST on its value, and operate it that way. It's similar to a trust. You would have to get an FAA validation, but that's a simple paperwork exer...

Dr. Gilmore in Vaughn will do them (he's been doing them since last year). He's also very reasonable in price.

Because 430 isn't an RVSM altitude. You would need a block altitude to operate at FL430.

Re: Converting TC SMEL MIFR CPL to FAA License
Unless you have a 4 year degree or some sort of US status, there's little chance. If you do have a 4 year degree, apply to a University if they're willing to hire you as an instructor/teacher under a TN status. It must be a university, not a uni affiliated Part 141 school. I do not think OPT works ...

Re: Mandatory PCR Test and 3 Day Hotel Quarantine
I know of two people who flew their planes down to FL as they do every year. I wonder how/if these new rules will affect them. it probably doesn't since crew are exempt from quarantine. It's questionable if they will be required to land at YYZ/YVR/YYC/YUL though (since no passengers are on board pr...

Re: Flight schools and their status?
Seems at least in Ontario, if the school offers commercial pilot licenses, they can't offer private instruction since they're regulated by the Private Careers Colleges Act, but small schools that only offer private instruction can do whatever they would like since they are not regulated by the provi...

I don't get why they didn't fly to California or Florida or somewhere that would have given them the jab without any sort of fraud like this situation? Thet obvious have the means to pay for their vaccine.

Re: Moving to the US
There's still a lot more jobs down south, and regionals are started to recall everyone (some are even hiring). I'd wager that you'll fly sooner and make more money than if you stuck around here. If you managed to get your ATP on your own (the process is easier than if you had the CTP and exams done ...

Re: VFR flights to Cuba
There's a few companies in the US (including fltplan.com) who can arrange the permit. Alternatively, you can arrange the permit yourself. Don't forget to give an ETA update to Havana Center before entering their airspace as well as Miami on the way back (ADIZ stuff). I've only flown in on a 705 jet,...
