Also too bad the F35 defenders on this forum can rarely offer up much more than "Trust us, we're the experts, it's on a need-to-know basis and you don't need to know."frosti wrote:Too bad people here don't apply the same logic to the F35 purchase.

Re: Helicopter takes out power lines in Whitehorse - May 28/
This seems to be turning into the standard AvCanada pi$$ing match, with . telling us all how great he is, other people taking shots, etc.. All we need now is a photo of Hedley pulling an inverted 4g negative dive, and we're set! Good start, but not quite. To qualify as a "standard AvCanada pi$$ing ...

Interesting. Would this be to provide some interim lift given 787 delivery delays? Or is it more of a longer-term fleet renewal solution, for example to facilitate 767 divestitures?

Re: Clearance Readbacks
I'm not doubting your story, but your story is BS. The FSS wouldn't (and couldn't) have CADORed you for failing to call entering the zone, because there is no requirement to call entering the zone. Here's your required calls: 602.101 The pilot-in-command of a VFR aircraft arriving at an uncontrolle...

Re: Jobs at ORNGE
If O struggles through somehow, and it just might, you will see it "privatized" and then the quality of flight crew, pay, training, will all go to hell in a handbasket in the name of profit...and the accidents will happen.... Huh? So the only high-quality, well-paid, well-trained crew out there who...

Re: INSTRUCTORS AND SPINS
iflyforpie is amusing in a left-wing manner, but his grasp of the facts is a little loose in this case, as is typical of left-wing people. The RCAF was not exactly the sole operator of -104's in Europe. It was actually the Germans who had a horrible problem with the F-104G over in Europe, mostly be...

Re: INSTRUCTORS AND SPINS
The RCAF certainly went through its share of 104s back in the day. One of the funniest (in a twisted kind of way) comments to appear on this forum was a contribution on this topic by iflyforpie last April: "Usually the best way to acquire a Starfighter was to buy a small farm in Germany and wait. Ma...

Old Dog and CS, that makes sense - thanks. Here's hoping I never have to try to keep the faith!
Found Yeager's flat spin segment (NF104) in The Right Stuff. I had forgotten what a beautiful airplane the 104 was - and what a terrific movie it is!

Re: INSTRUCTORS AND SPINS
The airflow in the flat spin mode is perpendicular to the bottom of the horizontal tail blanking off the rudder which of course makes stopping the autorotation impossible.Barney That's a very common-sense explanation, Barney: thank you. Obviously this isn't an issue in an inverted flat spin, per CS...

Re: Fact vs. Fiction
The fact is that airlines like any other industry are there to provide a return to their stake holders. Since you obviously don't take away from top management, the only logical choice is to take away from the grunts (in this case the flight attendants and pilots). Pilot training standards have not...

No idea - obviously he had a bad day on this occasion. This particular accident, though, doesn't have any relevance that I can see to a discussion about cadet program training standards....Colonel Sanders wrote:That's even more embarrassing - how did he fly at 400TT ?The F/O in question had 4,834 hours TT

Re: Fact vs. Fiction
Since we're bringing AF358 in to the discussion, refer to http://www.tsb.gc.ca/eng/rapports-reports/aviation/2005/a05h0002/a05h0002.pdf, and specifically section 1.5.2, "First Officer Information". The F/O in question had 4,834 hours TT, and 2,502 hours on type at the time of the accident.

I'll let the professionals on here and particularly the Air Canada guys weigh in on why you are completely incorrect in dismissing fatigue as a non-issue. Suffice it to say that you couldn't be more wrong. Moreover, you might re-read the article and get your facts straight: it was the F/O, not the C...

Be sure to print them on blue and white cloud paper! Oh and don't forget to include a picture of yourself leaning against the space shuttle or F18. Don't forget to sign off as Maverick. Oh and Ray Ban's help the consideration process. Would also help if you pointed out your ongoing need for speed.

Roy J. Romanow is the Union appointee to the B.O.D. When recently questioned by the I.A.M. about recent events, he said that his comments and suggestions to the rest of the Board are consistently ignored. He said that they definitely have an agenda, and I don't think he is privy to it. That's a pre...
