Re: Atlas Air 767
Would 4G negative be possible to achieve, even instantaneously? A loaded 767 is a lot of mass to make change its velocity that quickly by diving, isn't it? There is a pretty long arm between the 767 cockpit - where I presume the reading was recorded - and its lateral axis. The longer the arm, the h...

They hit a negative 4 G dive initialy on the FOs push. All you hear is stuff hitting the ceiling and at one point a loud thud. Would 4G negative be possible to achieve, even instantaneously? Re: Cathay Looking For Canadians
If the choice is between Jazz and Cathay, as it stands right now and assuming your relatively young and single, Cathay wins hands down. That being said, the geopolitical situation in Asia doesn't have the best outlook. One can easily end up having to "retreat" to Canada after 5 years as an SO at Ca...

Re: SWOOP - A New Hires Future
It is important to note that 50 or so Swoop pilots are screaming to get back to mainline to fill positions that are presently being filled by new hires. No one knows what the outcome will be. Can you elaborate on this? Are these former WJ F/Os that went to Swoop for a Capt. position and now want to...

Great read rigpiggy.
I've always liked flying in the wee hours, although not every night of course. Something about being up when everyone else is asleep. The peace and quiet - enroute at least - always puts me in a contemplative mood...

Re: Possibly returning to Canada
Congrats. You’ve accomplished something I hope I never have to do. Everyone is different. I know some that relish the adventure of living in other cultures and seeing the world and all its wonders over staying in the country that only by luck someone happened to be born in and being nothing but a d...

Re: Next Step, AC or WJ Mainline?
I plan to be a Jazz lifer. Currently life is pretty good, pay is alright (captain) and the schedule isn't horrible (sitting alright for the time being). The benefits are amazing and the vacation time annually is pretty sweet. For me its all about lifestyle and as an Albertan commuting for the rest ...

Re: Advice on where to start?
Not sure if you have or not, but make sure to look into realistic wage scenarios for the next 5-10 year. Do it before you spend any significant amount of money on training towards a commercial license. Definitely don't want to be negative and/or discourage you at all, but there are a lot of CPLs out...

Re: Can you scale the thrust to weight ratio of a turboprop?
Off the top of my head, the gigantic propeller up font would be a problem... It wont work due to centrifugal stresses and shockwave formation. And the engine wouldn't be scalable. Fluid dynamics would require re-engineering of the core and likely the auxiliary components. Also, a fuselage 10x the si...
