Re: Air Georgian Leather Jackets

My 2 cents. Do with them as you wish. I hope this is not correct. I'd get your 2 cents back on this one, put it in a cup and a mark it "Jacket Recupe Fund". Or maybe you can convince the company to take the profits from your blessed jackets and donate something to the Northern Communities? We don't...

AC spinoff from ACE?

Today's Globe and Mail has a story/interview with Robert Milton. In it, Milton comments on the possibility of spinning Air Canada off as its own publicly-traded entity, separate from ACE Holdings -- the company that was created during AC's bankruptcy rescue. This demonstrates the magic of the number...

If this is true I guess we can count all the chicken little blatherings about peak oil, and oil is finite and quickly running out as specious bullshit. Why then, are we getting hosed so badly at the pumps? While the total amount of oil in/on the planet may be finite, etc, the ability to extract it ...

On a different note, for anyone who wonders why the US airlines are still trying to pull themselves back together, consider this: Passenger capacity of the 4 hijacked airliners on 9/11: 762 Passengers on board the 4 hijackers airliners on 9/11: 229 The actual load factor, taking into account the dis...

I haven't seen it, but might go. Interested to see if the end accurately portrays the fact that the passengers did not make it into the cockpit, as suggested by the CVR transcripts. Always thought that was a feel-good story for the families (and the country) regardless. "Let's roll", my ass. Of cour...

With all of the natural gas and oil we have in this country, we should all be living like fucking rich Saudi Sheiks! Some Albertans are. Canada is a net exporter of oil (we produce more than we consume). If Canada were to lower prices to reflect the supply/demand situation for Canada in isolation, ...

That doesn't necessarily help the controller, at least in cases where a runway change may have recently taken place. Without stating the letter, the controller won't know if you have the current landing info, and it will cause unnecessary transmissions for confirmation.

Well, one example would have to do with splitting sectors, doubling up sectors, and breaks for the controllers. A private industry will be much quicker to deem air traffic 'not busy enough to warrand extra staffin', I don't disagree with that statement. But you seemed to refer to current actions be...

[Wouldn't change a hell of a lot because AC pretty well calls the shots now being the biggest contributer to NC's coffers through the enroute, terminal fee structure, Whether right or wrong, whatever AC wants, it gets with NC  Small point, which is probably moot in the grand scheme of things,...

And don't forget that the GST is charged on top of (cascaded) the excise taxes already added by the federal and provincial governments. Tax on tax. Gotta love it.

Obviously the government could not allow the ANS system to shut down Finally, he admits it - the whole "private corporation" thing is a sham, a feeble excuse to justify multiple taxation. I don't think I've ever argued that the ANS is not an essential service, so by extension the government cannot ...

No offense meant but I was under the impression that there was a work to rule program in place with Nav Can employees due to contract disputes already. Pay cuts surely couldn't help this any. I think most of the FSS's and ACC's do a swell job except when it comes to so called "high intensity operat...

I am amazed that any airline can make money when I see some of the fares out there. So when you buy a ticket for West Palm Beach and see that only $175 of that ticket actually goes to the airline, call Greyhound and ask them how much a bus fare to West Palm is, then ask what kind of wine they will ...

$150 per kg, per aircraft, per year. Adds up. Why waste that money if you don't have to?
