Re: Pilot shortage …? Reality or fake news ..
At my humble 703/704 we just got pretty decent raises (~30% for me..) in an attempt to stem the flow out of the door, and attract more people to come in.. While that's not a shortage per se , it certainly points to one. Because it's not a pilot shortage it's a salary shortage. Don't let them spin t...

Re: Looming recession and lay offs
Historically speaking, you can cause layoffs/ an industry downturn in several ways. -Low consumer confidence -9/11 style terrorist attack -pandemic -major financial crisis -astronomical fuel prices Right now, consumer confidence is at an all time low, the government is slow to relax C19 restrictions...

Re: Feels like impossible to find an entry level pilot job...
“I graduated from a reputable aviation college” - That indicates part of the issue right there. It’s time for an attitude adjustment. I don’t know you personally… however I have seen college grads at the airlines. This type of attitude is endemic. It drives many of us who went to flight school, work...

Re: Canada launches travel digital ID ( KTDI) pilot project.
So nobody sees “ seamless travel” and efficiency as beneficial? What about “building trust” ? Is that not beneficial ? Is the WEF a really this evil organization? They claim they stand for equality and making the world a better place. The government has also coined theories on the WEF “ misinformati...

That’s way better than a starting FO salary at the regionals. I’d imagine there more experience at the regionals than Carson too… Where do I sign up?throwawaycorporate wrote: ↑Sat Apr 16, 2022 6:15 pm YVR 350 FO was quoted at 55K in interview. Pretty decent

Aviation : ( depends on the company) - for this, let’s consider a large regional carrier in Canada. Good: Higher pay as a captain Ability to get Into: training, Pilot wellness, Union, line checking, F/o to captain. Can have incredible benefits ( better than some government employees) Flexibility : R...

Re: A Career in Aviation or Law Enforcement?
Why not continue with psychology?
I would not get into the aviation industry right now.
Reasons: pandemic, inflation, fuel costs, government that wants to severely limit fossil fuel usage.

Re: Impact of rising fuel prices on Aviation's recovery
Well this is all great news! High gas prices and we will use bicycles to get around! Save the planet! Why is anyone complaining about the high prices, this is what the carbon taxes were designed to do anyways. You will own nothing and you will be happy! And we’ll all need to prepare for an angrier ...

Re: Impact of rising fuel prices on Aviation's recovery
In terms of fuel prices, well many larger airlines hedge their fuel, so they'd be ok for however long their hedges last, but the general economic state is anyones guess. Right now travel demand is on the rise as we vacate the pandemic era. I wondered about that as well. I’d imagine it’ll impact con...

Re: Any good news on the horizon?
I don't think middle class people will be able to afford leisure air travel with the rising cost of food, housing, and fuel combined with stagnating salaries. I hope I am wrong but myself and most of my friends are definitely feeling the pinch. You’re not wrong….I agree 100% Historically you can ki...

Re: Impact of rising fuel prices on Aviation's recovery
If Ukraine keeps dragging on, the industry will implode again. Interesting. Why do you think so? Because of the increase in fuel prices I'm guessing. I'm not saying you're wrong. Not only because of the fuel prices. If this keeps dragging on, it will fester. More sanctions going in both directions....

It’s no secret that fuel prices are going stratospheric…
I’m worried about the fragile state of the industry now coupled with current world events/ pandemic and the entry of ULCC’s in the mix.
How is everyone feeling about this?

A bond, 12 or more hour duty days, and on call when you aren't working. All for low 30's from what I've heard, FO's anyway. What a joke lol. Please tell me pay has gone up significantly. Minus the bond part and schedule it sounds like Carson is on par or close to Jazz or encore in terms of pay/ WAW...

This is a hypothetical question only… Could you foresee boosters being mandatory? Should boosters be mandatory? Would you take subsequent booster shots? Curious to hear people’s thoughts on this… Disclaimer 1: I’m not advocating for boosters Disclaimer 2: can we stay out of discussing: Klaus Schwab,...
