Re: Sunwing Adds a New Twist on Foreign Pilots

So you spoke no french at all and got a job? I had 2 good friends not get past the phone call offering the interview because they did not speak french. This was just over a year ago now. I spoke a basic level that I learned in high school, I studied for the month leading up to the interview and spo...

Re: New letter to CIC against the use of Foreign National pi

If companies like sunwing and CJ want to protect themselves from us entitled pilots perhaps they can have those they train sign promissory notes.....oh wait that is already a well established practice. Like Gilles I have a tidy sum of type ratings on my ticket, most recently an Airbus type rating co...

Re: chopper down in southern yukon.

Very sad to hear the news, my condolences to the Air Tindi family. I had the pleasure of doing my first trip on the 2-otter with Paul as a 20 year old green FO over a decade ago, his professionalism. sense of humour and patience with a newbie pilot were something I've always tried to emulate in my c...

Re: Good, bad and just plain silly news for 2012

Another classic case of feeding off each other and spreading fear. Nobody can predict the future. Fact is there will be a shortage of qualified pilots pilots in the near future. Don't forget massive retirements coming soon. Things may look gloomy now with all the happenings going on but things chan...

Re: Tremors of Unprofessionalism

I'm confused, "unprofessionalism" is a new thing in the cockpit? You mean those guys who drove one 747 into another on Tenerife (sp) were the hight of professionalism? Or the guys who dove into the everglades because they were all looking at a light were professional? And dumbass pilots taking a swi...

Re: Jazz vs. WestJet comparison: 1 year later

The one thing I hear at Jazz all the time is "they work a lot harder at westjet", not sure that is true, just what I hear said a lot. I heard that as well when I was at Jazz. I disagree. We fly the same number of days (15-16), sometimes less, but our flying is longer with rare Sophie sits. The low ...

Cariboo's specialty is going places most others can't ie: 5000' minus gravel strips. So I can't see an RJ working for them.

Re: Question about an internal references

I don't work at WJA so my comments are more 'general'. 1 - why not apply now? It builds a file and one day 5-10 years down the road when you get that interview you can say 'I've been applying since I had 1000 hrs' it shows you have had a strong desire to work there (which you obviously do). Also it ...

Re: Jazz vs. WestJet comparison: 1 year later

Jazz seems to have an endless supply of Westjet haters. I've even sat in an A320 jump seat and the captain's comments about WJ made me want to vomit. I'm so tired of hearing their dribble on the line. I've never applied, possibly never will but you never know where this career can take you. A very ...

thanks for your reply.
