Re: Situation for Jazz New Hires
Already happening in the US. And now signing bonuses are being offered as well as retention bonuses. Either way, the total wages paid at the tier 2 entry level rose as a function of supply and demand. Have a look at this GAO report regarding the fictional airline pilot in the U.S. There's a reason ...

I really hate to point out the obvious...but
Now that Jazz is cheaper to operate, we'll get those Q's for sure.

Re: fire patrol detection to go the way of the...
I would think insurance cost would be lower if nobody is risking their lives and the drone is being operated over an uninhabited area. It would be lighter and more fuel efficient too since there's no pilot on board. It could also fly much longer, even if there are duty regs (I'm sure there will be),...

Re: TC ATPL to FAA ATP Conversion - ACTION NEEDED
Doesn't that just mean you can write the test before taking the ATP course. You would still need the course to apply for the license I think. In addition, we don't have to take the Part 141 atp course to write the ACH airman knowledge test.

Yup, as soon as you can make it affordable, which won't be for a while and what about operating restrictions of a drone over habitations? We are still decades away. This is happening very quickly. Here's one operation that already has FAA approval. http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-way/2014/06/10/320...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
That's the plan. 2-3 years in the right seat. Go skipper then off to AC via the PML 2.0 I'll be totally shocked if we start to see 3 year upgrade times at Jazz, although I've been pretty shocked at how the industry has changed over the last 5 years. Where did you get that number? I'm not disputing ...

Re: TC ATPL to FAA ATP Conversion - ACTION NEEDED
I don't think it will change as a result of any action by Canadians. All it would do is open up a loophole for Americans to get their ATP here first and then convert. I believe the new law can only be changed through an act of congress. The most likely way this will change is with the U.S. regionals...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
.....and just to add.... The other often repeated "best working conditions in the country!" is BS as well. I think it's a real disservice to post that on here, new pilots may come here to look for information and end up with distorted expectations. The BOTL guy at Jazz has a very different life than...

Re: 2 CPAs for the price of ....poverty
Ditto. With this CPA, new Jazz pilots will now be making $2/hour less than Encore, so they definitely will not be the highest paid, by any metric. It's like the current Jazz pilots think that if they keep repeating the mantra, that makes it true, and they won't have to feel bad about signing the TA...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
Yeah right, people just love flying on beat up RJ's and Dash 8 100's. I'm pretty sure people prefer the Embraer 175.Because if it's been a good experience travelling on AC regionals, it's been on Jazz.
How many passengers actually have a clue what company is operating the plane? Not too many.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
Pretty good benefits: Chiro, massage, dental, drug etc etc etc Very good short and long term disability insurance Remember you pay for these as well as your ALPA dues so you may find your take home less than expected. Somebody will have to post more accurate numbers, but I think family dental was s...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
interesting comments flying around. One thing everyone seemed to agree with is that flow will always be around. The language is there for sure but there is one little thing that nobody seems to mention or care about and that is the economy. Who says the big red AC engine won't idle down? I've been ...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
New Jazz pay scale (if the TA passes) shows first 3 years at $36, $37 and $38 per credit hour. If that's the case I think we're about to witness an amazing display of hypocrisy. There are a few hardliners on here that have said it is absolutely unacceptable to accept a wage below industry standard;...

Re: Converting Canadian ATPL to FAA ATP
Here's a quick idea of the course you need. Someone posted a comment at the bottom wondering if there was a loophole using a Canadian ATP and the response was no.

Re: Converting Canadian ATPL to FAA ATP
I think you'll have a bit of a problem. I did mine about a year ago. I went in again to add a type rating and the person working at the FSDO mentioned that I was lucky I did it when I did because the new regs came into play July 31st. Theres a box at the bottom that must be checked now that says "AT...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
I can only see a flow through to AC being bottom of the list. Why would ACPA agree to anything more, which means the only pilots that will be taking advantage of it are junior Jazz pilots that were applying anyway. My bet is that all F/O's and junior captains will choose to flow. If you're facing a...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?
Forgive me, perhaps I'm missing something. How is this CPA extension good news? It's a 5 year CPA extension in exchange for a 30% reduction in aircraft. What's the TA like? They mentioned "labour efficiencies" in the press release which sounds like a pay cut to me. I was thinking the same thing abo...

Save the serious stuff for your fancy private forums. This is for fun. It might not be SKY receiving those CRJ's, it could be Acme Aviation Inc. (the new, yet to be named startup)razorblade wrote:^

Oh no!!!! There are 26 D300's, that equals exactly 86 if you remove the 24 new CRJ's.ourkid2000 wrote:300's not going anywhere from what I read.
This confirms the rumor that SKY is getting those 24 new CRJ's, I can't believe it.
