Re: Harmony throwing in the towel?
Apparently stopping the new YYC-YVR flights with the RJ and purchasing the presold seats on Westjet. I have noticed you can book in the spring of 2007 though. I suspect voyageur will get a nice chunk of change from a breach of contract. Anyone else know much about this? What was the escape clause i...

Harmony is returning 1 757 to its lessor at the end of March.. rumor has it another will be as well. Stay tuned. They are currently negotiating with the leasing company to retain the 757 whose lease concludes the end of March. That is the only one of the 4 that may be returned. As you say, stay tun...

The Voyageur deal was just for the summer. It was done to accommodate some interline agreements with some Asian carriers to provide connections to YYC for the season. It wasn't intended to develop the YVR-YYC market. Rumours of Harmony's demise are brought to you by the 'fun loving' folks at WJ. The...

Re: Max Distance or Time Limit for an IFR Alt.
Is there a maximum distance or time limit for an IFR alternate? Or can it be 1000 nm away from the destination airport, or any length of time as long as you have enough fuel to get to it. I’ve been trying to find the answer in the CAR’s but no luck. Example you fly from Yellowknife to Inuvik, and u...

onelargefoot, My understanding is pika is partially correct. The turn back apparently was 2 hours out of YVR and the flight was then cancelled. It was destined for PHOG not PHNL. The pax stranded in PHOG were accommodated at Wailea as rooms were, not surprisingly, very scarce. Maybe someone has some...

1.8M (that's a staggering 5 feet 9 inches) tall. A true giant among men. Does the "normal" sized world you are forced to live in cause you endless grief? Actually it works out to 6 ft even. (180cm/2.5 in = 72) Still not likely to threaten any NBA players! :) As someone mentioned a few posts back; h...

WJ is a good airline. My mom just flew with them for the 4th time. Her experience was friendly people but crappy in flight service. She flew Charlottetown to Vancouver via Toronto. No TV. It's a long day and the only thing offered was a well overpriced sandwich (she was told it was beef but can't co...

Yes - but their insurance would be through the roof - if they could get it at all. Thats what drives the minimum times. Not true, to my understanding. The time requirements have to do with training. If a pilot has jet time with a 705 operator then it is a Level C program, otherwise it is Level D. T...

Heard today the a/c was to be written off. Apparently initial estimates from Boeing are 14 or 15 million to repair and it has to be done where it sits. They won't allow it to be flown elsewhere (big surprise).
