Re: Would'ya?
I'm not saying that I would run into a burning building just to see what it is like on the inside. I do advocate for trying something rather than sitting around and watching the plant melt down. If they're at the point where they need helicopters then it's because someone further up the chain has de...

Re: Would'ya?
Absolutely. I'm a fixed wing guy but if I flew a water bomber or something I'd be volunteering for that too. I have been watching the news. My heart breaks just watching the devastation over there. If there were any way I could help out I would. I wish there were something I could do above donating ...

Re: The road trip and the wait.....
I don't work for any of those companies so I'm not sure how they hire. I would guess it's all done out of Winnipeg but I am just guessing. Best to ask a Perimeter guy or better yet, call ahead or stop in Winnipeg first and ask their head office if hiring is done locally. Might just save you a trip u...

Re: The road trip and the wait.....
I think all of those guys are down in Winnipeg. If you're actually driving to Thompson, I think Missinippi has a base there. Don't know if that is where their office is located.

Re: Used Snowbird jet lands on auction block
I can't believe that those L29's are only worth $50. There you go kids - cheap way to buy some jet time*.

Re: The road trip and the wait.....
I heard that Perimeter had quite a few people interview at Jazz recently. There might be a lot of movement out there. That might reduce the ramp wait time. I would suggest that you try the other operators out there as Calm Air is also hiring. They'll probably take a couple of people from Fast Air, S...

Re: Interview
I applied directly through their website. I have previously received emails from Jazz when they announced the postings. I have added the specific job posting to my cart, however, at the top where you can see the sign in my job cart shows as 0 items. When I search on the pilot job, it asks me if I wa...

Re: Interview
That's encouraging. Still, I can't figure out why the guys with less time are getting noticed. More correctly, I can't figure out why my application isn't getting noticed. I'm as up to date as can be on their website (I've had an application going for over a year).

Re: SkyNorth Capt. and F/O job.
From what I heard they were letting the FO sit in the Left and log PIC on the empty legs which is way more than you will get at any of the other operators in Manitoba or Nunavut for that matter.

Re: SkyNorth Capt. and F/O job.
Let's not jump all over them right away. Let's not forget that this is basically an entry level turbine job. They are the best paying King Air medevac operation in Manitoba for FO's. Close . up for King Air Capt's. I'd bet if you surveyed King Air operators across the country, this would be about av...

Wow. I was hoping it might be somewhere around 3-4000 hours average. I'm definitely not going to wait by the phone.

Re: Interview
I'm curious what the guys that are getting calls have for time.
I'm at 2700 hours with ATPL. No call back for me yet. I'm guessing I'm still considered low time for Jazz.
What does it take to get noticed there?

Re: king air 200 medivac
I don't know if I agree with your statement. Are you saying that a 40 year old Metro is less of a maintenance hog than a King Air? Does that imply that since Perimeter spends less on maintenance that they are able to pay their pilots more than all of the King Air Medevac operators? That's very good ...

Re: king air 200 medivac
Why is the big green machine so much more than any other medevac operator? What do they get for per diems over there?

Re: Go to Asia
If it were really the land of opportunity, I think I'd expect to see jobs for everyone. I'm at 2700 hours and ATPL. I guess in airline terms that is still low time. I don't see anything that a guy like me could fit into. I guess there are no shortcuts.

Re: king air 200 medivac
I don't work for any of the companies quoted. I have friends that wen through all the operators in Manitoba. Fast Air: FO - $27 000 + $35/day perdiem 1 week on, 1 week off with some sort of extra coverage for charters on your time off. Capt - $55-65 000 depending on whether you came with type rating...

I work a rotation also. We don't get the option to take time off, the company just pays everything out. I think it's 9 federal stat days and 1 or 2 provincial days.

A friend of mine used to use $15 tarps from Home Depot secured with some bungee straps. Seemed to work really well, the snow and ice just slid right off.

Re: Conestoga College, Algonquin College, and Brampton Fligh
I stand corrected on the job part. The people I knew that went there (10 years ago now) had a hard time holding down a job after their first year of school. Once they had to fly when and where the college told them to do so, meant having to find a very flexible boss or give lots of shifts away. I we...
