Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

Paying the MAX pilots for 12-18 months for sitting looks great for the damages claim against Boeing but these bodies could have been used to staff vacancies. Perhaps that is the realization that AC just came to by cancelling the bid. I think it has more to do with the realization that the plane wil...

Re: Boeing Update, for Air Canada Pilots — News and Views

Won't be flying at AC any time soon. Equipment bid has been cancelled due to the ongoing MAX grounding. They know something about further delays and want to protect their summer flying season with an alternate plan. I wouldn't be surprised to see reductions off the MAX to have guys trained on other ...

Re: AC emergency

The 76 has a great power to weight ratio but is there any word that the engine was shut down and they circled with one engine inop burning fuel. There is a real lack of information. I'm surprised the internet trolls didn't blame Boeing. It is my understanding that they were single engine. From the ...

Only some of the AC B767 FINs have dump capabilities. This one did not.

Re: Foreign Pilots in China being sent home?

I'm being told at least 5 Chinese airlines on the mainland have either released their pilots or have sent them on leave indefinitely without pay as a result of the economic effects of the coronavirus. Can anyone corroborate this and/or add any details? I haven't seen anything in the news aside from...

Re: Boeing Systemic Problems Continue

Nailed it L39guy, You’ve exposed the root problem and no amount of engineering will overcome lack of basic airmanship until pilots are removed from the equation completely. The way the profession is going I believe that day will come sooner than later. Today’s “professional” pilots are becoming mor...

Re: Boeing Systemic Problems Continue

I disagree that L39guy's post is "spot on". There is a lot there I, and many others, could debate but won't bother as it has been done ad nauseam for almost a year now. My questions was why the CBC should be defunded as the report was geared towards a simplified explanation to the public, not a tech...

Re: Boeing Systemic Problems Continue

Proof of why CBC should be defunded - a terrible and sensationalized story, particularly since the official report has been available for over 3 months. Not surprising in a sense at Terrence McKenna got caught by veterans a few years ago exercising less than honest journalism. https://www.cbc.ca/fi...

Re: Socialized Bidding (Rouge)

ACPA gave the 737 pilots a raise. Are you fucking kidding me??! They haven’t flown in a year, but let’s “ensure their wages are protected.” Meanwhile our flat pay colleagues are hung out to dry, especially those on the 320. Even though that’s the fleet picking up all the slack. We’re in a big staff...

Re: will AC take non ac express pilots?

Why would a CRJ/175 CA not be qualified to sit in the right seat of a WB? Because of their competencies: when you fly WB you loose your flying skills; it’s easy flying and you perform 2 ILS aproaches and 2 landings per month: you don’t know how to fly an aircraft anymore. It’s a great strategic dec...

Re: looking for Air Canada pilot directory

Schools have no problem letting people know who their staff are. Also, many people advertise themselves as employees of different places. I fail to see a privacy problem with this. A lot of us have lost track of friends over the years and it would be nice to find them. Passing your employee's perso...

I hope that doesn't exist. There is an expectation of privacy in Canada.

Re: Atlas Air 767

That's interesting to see. AC SOP for stall recovery is AP/AT OFF, lower the nose to break the stall before increasing thrust. The logic was that with the massive under slung engines, increasing the thrust exacerbates the nose high pitch so they wanted to esure the wing was flying first. This techni...

Errrrr.... yeah..... because supporting the FDT fatigue rules that the government enshrined into the Gazette showed how far ALPA will go for ACPA issues. All that while the two parties were talking. Stab in the back much?

Re: Air Canada Pay

Rising tides raise all boats. Nix the 1-2 or 1-3 year FO flat pay bullshit, make it one or two years tops but at a higher rate. Take those bottom years and add them to the top. Brings up the whole list. Make Yr 3 new new year 1 and year 12 the new year 10. Leave the CA list alone for the next round...

What are you talking about? They have a chief pilot; Captain Tommy Thompson.

Seriously. That's his name.
Does he have built-in GPS?
