Sorry A330 but you're still saying the same thing as before (which we are still not arguing about) but not giving a real answer to the question. The only question is why Airbus says 2.7 nm/1000' @ 280 kts and 2.5 nm/1000' @ GD. So far Toga gave the best explanation, but it would be interesting to ha...

Would the crew in this situation have been able to cover thier asses through the use of the "unforseeable delay" clause?

This isn't the complete answer I know...but to be an airline, your Ops Manual has to be approved by Transport Canada. If you operate outside of your ops manual, even in a foreign country then you have broken the law. Work/Rest regs are covered in all ops manuals.

Feel free to add more to this

A330,

Yes, that sounds reasonable and I don't think anyone has argued against what you said.

I just don't think that you have contributed anything of meaning to ca787546 question.

A330,

I don't think you get the point of this discussion. None of your posts have done anything to contribute to the original question. You may very well be right that this is a typo but if it is then why not bring it up so it can be changed.

No one is arguing that best glide speed is not GD.

weird...I was actually taking a tour of dispatch that night...needless to say that there were a couple stressed out looking people around. Anyway, not much to add, but I do seem to recall that dispatch wanted to divert them to Montreal instead of Halifax so they wouldn't have to reposition a crew th...

I agree with you 100% Hedley. By far the best hands and feet training I've received was on the Champ, Canuck, and Maule. I haven't had any serious aerobatics training yet but that is high on my list of things to do. It is unfortunate that insurance premiums make operating taildraggers as trainers so...

Hedley, Circuits in the Baron are required because of the significantly higher approach speeds and the the fact that the aircraft is generally heavier on the controls than any other training aircraft. Also, the flare is different in that you set a landing attitude in the flare as opposed to 'holding...

I agree with Clodhopper's statements. It's not like Seneca teaches students to always leave the gear down. Any time they leave the circuit they suck the gear up when there is insufficient runway remaining. I don't think that any Seneca student will ever 'forget' to raise the gear on take-off after t...

No, de-icing is not normally an issue with banner towing...but it is with morning traffic. The planes are literally plowed in by airport operations and on mornings when it's -30 and there's 6 inches of crusty snow and ice on the entire plane a little pressure bottle and iso-propyl doesn't quite cut ...

You'd better have another job and already live in the Toronto area because line pilots only make $20/flight. This is a really bulls#it wage and you will hardly ever work less than 3 hours for a mission (ie. you will hardly ever make more than minimum wage). Skywords does banner towing as well as tra...

I don't think their name was misleading. This is how I understand it...

As soon as they sell enough PPC's their next airplane will be a jet...hence NexJet.

Pretty simple to me

My first celebrity!

I flew my first celebrity today. Operations didn't mention anything special about the charter but when we showed up we were greeted by David Letterman's toothy grin. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me but I had a nice chat with him. So, who are some other celebrities that AvCanadians have...

One step that would reduce a lot of training related gear-up landings would be to ensure that the gear-warning horn doesn't come on unless BOTH throttles are reduced beyond a certain point. In most twins, the gear warning horn will come on if either throttle is reduced beyond a certain point. This m...

One of the new CSRs at CYKZ once got blown 50 feet across the ramp by a Falcon 2000 breaking away from the chocks...quite the flight for her but she landed in the grass and wasn't hurt.

I had the same girl page a "Craven Moorhead" multiple times over the CYKZ terminal PA
