Re: Engine heaters.
If you are using any type of heater make sure there is no fire hazard & don't leave the heater plugged in if you're not going flying as the moisture generated will turn your engine into a rusted piece of junk very quickly. The longest I leave my safeheat electric oil pan pad plugged in is overnight f...

When I enquired about why dual vacuum pumps were required,I was told that Cessna wouldn't certify their aircraft for ifr without dual vacuum pumps installed.Nothing is required by regs though.

Re: Float pilot and new boat regs?
I was told by one of the people giving the boating test that an aircraft has it's own license system & floatplane pilots don't require the boating license when on the water.
I do agree that the boating test is quite easy & still wrote it for my dingy when fishing.

Lots of experienced aviators here but a little more info on type of amphib would make it easier. Is it a hulled amphib such as Lake,or similar design;edo 2790's or 3500;wipline;pk.Type of aircraft they're installed on(if not a hull).Altitude of planned strip, soft grass, gravel, dirt - or harder surface...

For my cessna 185 with 1400 on type & commercial & ifr rated March & Copa couldn't come close & asked me if I knew that the 185 was a taildragger to boot.Save almost $1500 on floats & almost $2000 on wheels going with Park.I'm upgrading to amphibs this fall & didn't even bother with anyone else.I do...

Re: BCs annual float fly-in at Nimpo Lake July 18-19
Don't forget to watch the density altitude at Nimpo Lake.Elevation is 3665 without any corrections. On a hot day with no wind it can be very hard to get out of the water, especially from late morning, with no wind if heavily loaded.
Have a safe flight.

Re: KD Air Shutting down due to YVR 2010?
I went to one of the airspace update meetings & as a bonus got to view to"Olympic Airspace Restrictions".They alleged that the US is governing the airspace restrictions & as a result your ability to fly in the orange zone will be severely restricted & no fly red zone is a "we don't care who you are,...

Re: Category 1 Medical - When's it coming!?
I am probably wrong;but all my paperwork went in the same envelope to Transport Canada from the examining doctor & was reviewed before the bill was sent to me.Had anything been wrong they would have cancelled my medical & still sent the bill.
