Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
But it is cyclical. That is a fact and anybody starting now, should know that what goes down, goes up, and vice versa. There have never been guarantees, but some us have had incredibly bad timing!

Insurance. Good one. Keep applying and don't listen to any naysayers. It happens eventually, just not quite in the way you want most of the time...

Re: Westjet Caves on refunds.
I think most companies, not just aviation ones, are not sure what to make of any of this pandemic and its effects. I had to cancel some hotel rooms recently - long story - and they were all quite rude about it. Hopefully everyone can come to their senses and start treating people with a bit of court...

It is extremely difficult for pilots to bargain: they only have their labour to withdraw if they don't get their way, and we know how easy it is to replace them right now. Once things get going, it might be harder. I wish people all the luck in the world.

You are forgetting: if you don't pay the bazillions to the executives every time they lift a pencil, they would have to look for another guy. It might take longer than the 2 nanoseconds it takes to find a qualified pilot, which would of course hurt their bottom line; time being money and all that.

To answer Altiplano: indeed I do NOT have an ATPL, but exams passed long ago. I used to have what they called a Senior Commercial, now just a Commercial.

Re: Do potential employers look at your SARON/SAMRA results?
I had a regional airline interview, and they specifically asked for the proof - which was in the letters from TC showing my pass marks. So you never know.

US: lots of people vaccinated twice Canada: not that many vaccinated twice. Why? Because we don't make vaccines here anymore; because the multinationals that control the drug industry found us too expensive. You know, too much money to provide a good living for average people, so they went where it ...

What AC does is whatever they can legally get away with, to pay pilots less.

I changed careers in my 30's. I may have made it to the bigs, I may not have (likeliest scenario in the 1980's and 90's). I have no regrets. Whatever to you, do it to the best of your abilities and don't look back. It is the road that is fun.

Re: Ottawa has agreed to financial relief package for Air Canada, sources say
Every route sent to Jazz is money saved for AC. The whole reason they set things up this way is to save on salaries. It may make for more jobs, but it makes for lower pay than it might otherwise. So I think if I were at the top of the food chain, at The Show, I would not like that very much.

Re: Cat I medical & ADHD
I think you may discover that the view held by TC is the absolute most conservative one you will ever find. Mental health is an issue in society, but you are going to make your life very difficult if you bring any of it up with TC. They tend to err on the side of caution and stop the presses, while ...

Take this for what you paid for it, from a guy who did NOT make it anywhere... well, I worked when I had to. Listen to Altiplano (for once). HIs advice is right on the money here. PIC, PIC, PIC, the more turbine the better. Having said that, I am not sure a lot of big 705 guys will be necessarily at...

Re: Air Canada and Government of Canada Conclude Agreements on Liquidity Program
Again more ignorance on how things work. Economics is not zero sum. The government has not dealt "a blow against aviation". And the government programmes were offered to pretty much everybody, NOT the airlines specifically. So because they did not specifically help airlines (and nobody else) you are...

Re: "Three possible Transat suitors say they are not interested in acquiring struggling airline"
I saw a merger when I worked in aviation years ago, before I started flying - in another century. The problem was that the process was not fair at all. Some got seniority back, others went to the bottom. They had all worked at the original place, then chose to leave for a greener pasture that didn't...
