Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

Some great posts here. I've been keeping my eye on this thread and obviously there is some guys who have enough history in this industry to confirm this... Ornge used to be known as the Ontario Air Ambulance. Did this organization not do the same job for 30ish years with a great safety record? Based...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

There was a time when Helijet operated S76's IFR on sked runs Vancouver to Victoria. Have they quit doing that because the machines are to old? Not at all. Perfectly valid point. Just wondering why the ORNGE keeps all the Agusta 139's down south when the "biggest challenge" for the rotor pilots is ...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

Would does everyone think of the following: CARS 602.114 and 602.115 states that "No person shall operate an aircraft in VFR flight within (un)controlled airspace unless (a) the aircraft is operated with visual reference to the surface;" The flight that was to occur from Moosonee to Attawapiskat hap...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

And they "need" a machine like the S76 to fly from YMO to Moose Factory???? Keep in mind, I've been there. It's a 9 iron shot. This, and the S76 still can't go in IFR...the whole thing smells/stinks of politics! I think CARS requires multi-engine for air taxi at night does it not? Or at the very le...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario

Isn't it strange that the old S-76's are up north in the remote spots with little ambient light, limited weather reporting, or alternates, and the newer aircraft are down south where they have alternates all over the place? Is it just because the hospital is the majority of their trips? What about T...
