Re: Care and feeding of a rag wing?

If you live in a place that has an air museum, don't forget to look at volunteering, you may find it to be a wealth of information as well.

Be sure to read all the posts on salaries, working conditions, etc and note that it is the same people whining and complaining about their miserable lives. Happy people tend to not post on forums as they have lives and better things to do. I come her for the comic relief. Go ahead, make me laugh!! :...

Re: Does anyone know if Centennial College is FAA 147 approv

Canadian schools are not FAA approved. You will have to go to the US to get your A & P. They have companies down there that specifically do nothing but "convert" you to an A & P. Expect to write all the FAA exams and do an oral practical examination in order to complete your "conversion". The only o...

Re:

That sounds harsh. They are trying to say in the site it's not going to effect it much. Almost every single heavy at the show is American. So no C-5, KC135, B52, KC10, and possibly C17 unless a Canadian one shows up. So the entire heavy ramp would be empty except for a Canadian C130 and possibly a ...

Re: PAMEA newsletter

Read it last night and came away with one thought. They are losing members, they don't know why and they don't know how to fix it. Here is a simple start, every student at BCIT, OC and NLC gets a complimentary membership. As for the Red Seal I have so many questions I don't even know where to start,...

Re: Abbotsford Airshow Aug 9,10,11 / 2013

With the American military cancelling all of their airshow appearances, including the Thunderbirds, Blue Angels and all static displays, it will be interesting to see if anyone can pickup the slack at Abbotsford. Always very disappointed that nothing is done by Conair or Cascade during the show.

Re: AME conventions

Don't have an answer for that one but as an outsider looking in, Edmonton is an Aviation wasteland. Closing the Muni has made that happen. With $2 Billion being spent on YYC why would they even think of having the convention anywhere but Calgary?

I got to heliski for free. Sorry it wasn't free, they paid me around $600 per day to do it, but I know that's unrealistic  . Simple if you don't like being an AME, QUIT!!! Do something else. I have a list of really good dedicated folks the length of your arm who will do your job and love it.

Re: Westjet Tech Ops needs a union!!!!!!!

I am not going to get into the union good/union bad argument. Just to note that in the US 23 states have instituted "Right to Work" legislation which allows an employee to not have to join the union. The result has been a 10% reduction in wages and the most alarming feature of the legislation is it ...

Go to the nearest Transport Canada (Air) where you are and ask them. They will decide if your credentials are acceptable. Expect to have to do AME basic training and only receive 6 months industry credit from Transport.

And don't believe everyone who posts on the internet as well. People who are happy with their jobs and lifestyle rarely go online to tell the world. They have lives and better things to do with their time.

Who told you you would have only the opportunity to work nights? In the Okanagan Valley the two largest employeers of "S" licenced AME's, Kelowna Flightcraft and Alpine Aerotech have lots of chances for guys to work days. Re: AMEs WISHING TO HOLD THE A&P LICENSE FROM FAA

It was a little difficult but not impossible. Had to prove to the FAA that I went to an accredited TC approved ATO. Then wrote the Exams Powerplant, Airframe and General (Standard Practises). I then had to do my oral practical with an approved District Maintenance Examiner. Took me about a week. The...
