Re: float plane mooring ropes
I ‘ve always tied a rope on the front strut that was long enough to go past the rear strut & the rear rope was long enough to go around the front strut & sit on the inside of the strut just past the rear float strut mount, both ropes having a knot on the end.I always grabbed the rope tied to the fron...

If there’s a Real Canadian Superstore in your area try asking if they do passport photos.

Re: How long does it take to get cat 1 medical?
I’ve held a cat1 for about 25 years, renewed without issues end of June & heard nothing until I sent them an email in December; got an email back next day saying it was just processed & here’s the bill. Pacific Region.

Re: closing a vfr flight plan
Are there any RCO or DRCO’s that can be reached in the air prior to letdown?
I’ve used those in remote areas of BC to close flightplans.

A346 Dude;
Post was about dispatch giving you as much information as they had - in the earlier days some at dispatch thought they ran the airline.
First incident was PWA in the early 70's,second incident was CAI.
You are right though both have long disappeared.

Re: Westjet CYHZ
Not related to the overrun but related to dispatch reliability from an airline captain friend of mine; He was on his way out in a 737-200 & upon reviewing the dispatch info found that he was 8000 lbs light on fuel & requested the fuel be put on board before he would allow pushback - dispatch told hi...

Another hedge fund manager making it look really profitable so they can set up a huge dividend payout & then walk away & let it fold.

Re: 50 hours and no solo
I had a friend once that was racking up the dual & was pissed at how many hours she had without seeing any solo time in the future, she asked the chief flight instructor to evaluate her & tell her what the problem was - he watched her for the flight & noticed that she couldn’t see properly so he got ...

Re: IFR Flight Test questions
Every examiner is different,in my experience there will be failures so be ready to figure out hold entries without the help of the 750 & the 600.Also be able to fly the hold & approach without the autopilot just in case. Best part is once you pass your renewals can be done in a redbird without havin...

Re: CAT 1 Medical additional reporting...
You could always call the doctors office where you got the medical and ask them who they recommend. During my last cat 1 medical I asked my doctor if I was missing anything & he told me that if I did transport would send me a letter - turns out I missed a hearing test & they requested one.A quick ca...

Re: Mid-Air Collision Near Ottawa
You can have a whole rack of radios & if they’re not turned on it won’t prevent anything. Back in the early 80’s I was landing at Nimpo & even after all the calls some idiot flew right underneath me without saying a damn word.I did the go around & then after landing tied up behind him at Duncan’s do...

Always have worn life jackets & so have my passengers in my 185,you don’t have to wear them if you don’t want to - but you won’t be getting in my plane.
Full briefing on doors, windows ,seat belts & life jackets prior to entry for every flight.
