Re: New Paint for CAN FORCE One
The wave in the blue section makes it look like a cross between a SeaWorld Willy the Orca plane, and a Election-campaign-ready PC flagship. Sure it's nice, but totally inappropriate, and yet another misguided subtle attempt to tell the Americans that we can have a flashy Air Force One or Canada One....

Re: First Air Crash Resolute Bay August 20 2011
Maybe it just took a long time to do a thorough investigation and draft a good report? indeed. I understand as well that a confidential draft report is now being circulated to interested parties and it is a large one. Considering everything, and the fact that the TSB has many other accidents to inv...

Having not seen the original posting, it's hard to get the nuance that the mod felt in order to yank it, but I would assume it looked like a job for a cook with a pilot's license... And it perpetuates the near fact that 200 hrs wonders must lick their wounds in order to get out of the blocks.... In ...

Re: DiamondShare - factory facilitated plane share
I wonder if that's more to do with the advancements in cars - selling cars is such an enormous industry compared to light aircraft that the innovations and price wars come fast and furious. In other words, it's not that airplanes got expensive, it's that cars, and good cars at that, got cheaper! No...

A nice 5 to 7 year old, low-time DA40 XL or better, low time in the 500 to 800 hrs range, will still run around 200K in controller.com. You can find used DA40s from 120 to 240 but they aren't old enough yet. I agree these prices are obscene, even for the new or near 172. The Cirrus SR22 blows it eve...

Here is a Youtube video of my own: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vP-YULpR954&feature=youtu.be I read this and many other threads on this issue, scattered and lengthy as they are, and I admit your persistence is admirable Gilles. You seem 200% behind your interpretation of all those CARs and sub-se...

Re: Flight Duty Time Regulations will probably change.
Oh, and HAC? Utter waste of time. Proven time and again it's impotent in any of the real issues, and have actively lobbied against flt and duty restrictions in the past. Don't expect anything positive to come from the HAC for regular pilots and engineers. Interesting... STL, could it be that HAC is...

Kevin, sounds like you're getting a bit of a wake-up call. The previous owners are listed as Alan and Kathy Rebane on the current lodge website, they would be the best to tell you how they managed their fly-in and fly-out requirements. (This may also explain to you why they sold though...)

Re: Hang-glider dies after fall in BC
An accident such as this was bound to happen. The confusion and multiple distractions that led to the missing of the critical check, as unfathomable as it seems, is plausible - unfortunately. (This reminds me of the helicopter pilot who forgot to remove the entire rotor head covers on a varant of th...

Re: Ottawa Citizen story on aircraft procurment for Snowbird
We cut surveillance of air operators, drinking water safety, food safety, research into emerging technologies that affect safety, and we layoff thousands of people doing that critical work.... But we need to keep a cash-cow of ego-inflated flyboys on the pretense that it helps recruitment.... Wow......
