Did my instructor rating at RFC and was a member prior to that. I also taught at RFC for about 2 years and had a wonderful time. It is a great place to learn/teach/hang out and all the people who work there and are members are top notch.
I would totally recommend Rockcliffe to anyone

just in the process of finishing up my ATPL, SAMRA is the last exam and when I got in touch with TC in Vancouver they told me that the most current Class 1 has to be completed in an actual aircraft.

I was speaking with my dad who was also up in the area flying around and apparently the SAR crews found both the pilots and aircraft, all in good condition.

Re: Question for new dads
My wife and I have a 10 month old. From the start we decided that during the night before work (either AM or PM shifts) she would get up and deal with our daughter. Rational was I need to be rested for work as well as why have 2 people exhausted. On my days off I get up and help out if I can but mor...

Re: Beech 1900 Cargo Door light
Hey folks, just thought I would chime in with some info regarding this incident (Beech door opening in flight)...the DDPG states that if the cargo door light is U/S as long as a visual inspection of the door is made and locking mechanisms are engaged the flight can take place... As of this moment an...

Re: Getting my PPL in Ottawa
I did my instructor rating at Rockcliffe and then worked there as an instructor. As both a student and employee I found it to be one of the better schools/clubs I have visited and flown at. The staff are always helpful and willing to chat to students, members and prospective students. As mentioned b...

Re: Aussie Westwind ditches at sea-at night, all survive . . .
the news coverage (I am in New Zealand) of this accident has been quite interesting. On one side is the normal "hey great job, no one died you are a top gun pilot" and the other side is focusing on how the pilot apparently failed out of a Qantas interview and why he continued to circle until his eng...

Re: Converting a canadian ATPL to an Australian ATPL?????
No sponsorship for foreign pilots with Air NZ as far as I know. The market down in NZ at the moment is slow!! I have friends who are sitting on "yes" letters from big brother Air NZ (I fly for one of the link carriers) which tell them it will be 2 years before the hiring starts up again. At the mome...

Re: ATC assigning "Ground Speed" for sequencing.
Flying down in Kiwi land I have never received an instruction to hold a groundspeed but as a few of the other posters have mentioned I have been told what the aircraft ahead of me is grounding while on visual approaches.

Re: Converting a canadian ATPL to an Australian ATPL?????
Hey there, I would suggest just going for the Oz ATPL and not doing the NZ one. I converted my Canadian CPL to a NZ CPL/ IFR stuff as well. It required air law exams in both subjects and a flight test for the IFR. In order to get an NZ ATPL you will have to write at the very least the Air Law exam a...

worked with SGL for 18 months before moving on last September. In my opinion they were a good outfit to be with, travel was great and I enjoyed the flying. If memory serves me correct think after all the extras I was taking home around 60k per year. I have been tempted to re-submit my CV to the CP s...

Has anyone ever written TC exams overseas?
I only ask because I am currently flying down in NZ but am considering writting my TC ATPL exams (I am a Canadian). If anyone has done this info would be appreciated.
PM me

Re: Aussie wanting to move to Canada
First thing would be to look into seeing whether or not you are able to work in Canada. Check out the Canadian Immigration website.
After that you will have to convert your licences to Canadian equivalents.

In order to work here in Canada you will need to apply for a working visa. Take a look at the working holiday program and if that doesnt apply due to the age restrictions then you may need to get something else
